Weirdly ok
k_manful14 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It's kinda ridiculous. The woman who is a party planner, is able to loan an actual stranger money to open a bar just so he'll sleep next to her. As if it only costs like a couple hundred dollars or something to open a bar. On top of that he gets the bar, finds a location, and gets the bar up and running in like a week. She also gets engaged and has the wedding a month later which also isn't possible. But it's a Christmas movie sort of, so whatever I guess. However, the worst part is she contiously lies to her fiance, dumps him at the alter, and runs off to be with another man immediately. Not even a second to get over the relationship. And this fiance did nothing wrong at any point in the film. All that said, it's kinda fun to watch. You can't take it seriously, because it's very ridiculous. And you'll feel badly for the fiance. Just take it for what it is worth, which is entertaining in it's own way.

Decent new entry to the made-for-tv holiday mix
JShaft3311 December 2018
This movie isn't as much a Christmas movie as it is a movie that takes place during the Christmas season. The casting is actually a surprising mix of talent for a TV movie. It helps that the two main stars are actually in real life to add to their on screen chemistry. Less cheesy than other Hallmark alternatives.

So so
sherilcarey25 December 2018
I had thought the ads made this look like it had some pretty decent potential. Sadly it definite fell flat for me. It had a few good moments and nothing that really bothered me. It just wasn't very good. It seemed I suppose like it had several underdeveloped aspects.

Odette makes it worth watching
phd_travel27 January 2019
Usually I am not a fan of real life Husband and Wife or couples playing romantic partners on screen but in this movie it's alright. Odette and Dave Annable are the leads in this rom com about 2 people having trouble sleeping not sex, except when they are together. Always have been a fan of Odette. Dave should dye his hair black - the premature grey ages him unnecessarily.

The acting and dialogue are better than the average Christmas movie.

There's no cheating in this movie
marymarya27 December 2023
There's no cheating in this movie, nobody cheats on anybody, not even a kiss.

The people who commented that this movie encourages cheating I don't think they've seen the movie, I think they saw a youtube review (that's where I heard about the movie) where the youtuber says this movie its about cheating, there's no way so many people saw the movie and understood that this movie is about cheating.

I also believe the people who comment about the ending haven't seen a rom-com in their life, obviously the main characters are gonna have a happy ending, what did you expect.

I didn't know the actors were a couple in real life, but I don't see what the big deal is.

Cute movie for couples
coreytegley22 November 2021
Good funny movie. Tv14 but still was good. Lots of laughs. Story was okay. Just wish it was alittle longer at the end. But still a must see for couples of all ages. Enjoy!

Situation Should Have Been Handled Better, But...
photo-otohp1520 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So, when you read the synopsis for this movie, you should expect there to be some sort of stakes, right? It's a movie.

Let me start by saying that this is a ridiculous movie that definitely was NOT a Christmas movie. It felt like Christmas music was added in as an afterthought, because the writers forgot it was supposed to be Christmassy.

Into the ridiculousness.... so, the plot is silly as hell. With that said, if you take the story at face value, it feels like something that is hard to judge fully. I've never, personally, had such significant issues with sleeping. I am not sure if the sleeping disorders depicted in the movie are realistic, but in the movie, it did seem like a desperate situation.

It could have been handled better for sure. She should have just been honest with her partner from the get go. The secrecy was absolutely the worst part, but at the same time, could you imagine trying to have that conversation with your fianceé? And again, I'm going based on the reality of the movie, where we watched a montage of her trying various medications, getting sleep studies and other medical interventions.. she actually tried to fix the situation legitimately..

I see a lot of comments blaming the girl, but uh... the dude knew what he was doing, sleeping next to a woman who was getting married. When she asked for his help in trying to prove the legitimacy of their predicament to her fianceé, he initially tried to bail. Why is nobody commenting on that? Why is everyone jumping on the girl exclusively? This is a good example of societal misogyny, and something to take into consideration when forming opinions.

She tried to do things legitimately and she failed, hence the conflict of the movie. She was going to go through with the wedding and stay dedicated, but whatever the hell issue she had with sleeping was what ultimately made her decision. She literally fell asleep on the altar at her wedding- I don't think this was intentional. I don't think she wanted to hurt her fianceé, I think she actually wanted to make it work.

If she were having doubts, she should have brought them up with her partner ahead of time, sure. That's how relationships work. I felt so bad that he was humiliated in front of the entire wedding party. I feel like that was done for dramatic effect, it is a movie. With that said, I don't think she should have forced the relationship because the fianceé is a "great guy." That is how a lot of relationships are doomed- recognizing you have a great partner, and feeling too guilty to acknowledge the fact that being a great partner does not always generate compatibility. That is a very real, very human thing that a lot of people do experience.

My criticism for this movie, besidea the forced Christmas, was that it wasn't handled well, making the end scene feel far less redeemable. It is sh!tty that they ended things on the altar, but that doesn't mean that she would have been a terrible person for ending the relationship at all. It should have been handled privately, and before the wedding .. but again, where is the drama in that?

Really enjoyed this movie, funny in places and both the lead characters had great chemistry. The story line is a bit far fetched, but what movie isnt nowadays. Not a Christmas movie, but a great romantic comedy.

Worth staying awake for
TheLittleSongbird26 December 2019
Will get one thing off my chest straightaway, the premise did not appeal to me at first. It actually sounded rather uninteresting and 'No Sleep Til Christmas' (which also was not the most appetising of titles) struck me as a film where it would be difficult making a compelling film out of it. Still watched the film anyway as part of my festive film quest and after hearing from trusted friends that it was a much better film than the premise made it sound.

Although it is still not a great film and there is nothing truly amazing about it, 'No Sleep Til Christmas' was also not bad at all which did in all honesty pleasantly surprised me. Do agree with my friends about it being a much better and more interesting film than the premise indicated and am glad about listening to my gut and seeing it anyway without any intended prejudices. It is not going to appeal to all for understandable reasons, so if it doesn't do it for some fair enough.

That Lizzie is such an unsympathetic character with quite dubious morals will be, and has been, a big turn off. This was a problem for me as well to be perfectly honest, when you spend too much of the time disliking a character, questioning their motivations and not seeing them go through much change it does rather dampen one's enjoyment (am not trying to be nit-picky or snobbish here, it's just my feelings on that).

Some of the dialogue is forced and could have flowed more naturally. 'No Sleep Til Christmas' was also for me a film that started off on the slow side but did get better once things warmed up and more went on in the story.

Regardless however of my feelings on Lizzie were, the fault does not lie with Odette Annable who gives it her all and never overplayed or looked bored. She has strong chemistry with her real life husband Dave Annable, who is charming as the far more sympathetic character and the supporting cast support them ably as characters that may be stereotypes but have personalities that aren't obnoxious or dull. So the acting was better than average.

Likewise with the dialogue on the most part. It is flawed, but there are parts that raise a chuckle and others that warm the heart with their cuteness. The balance is also done quite well, there isn't too much of one and not enough of the other and there is less excessive cheese and over-sentimentality than there can be with similarly themed stories/films. It is nicely made and the soundtrack puts a smile on the face.

On the whole, a decent film, despite one particularly major problem, as long as not too much is expected. 6/10

This movie teaches us to cheat on our partners who have done nothing wrong, because we are insecure, and because there might be someone else whom we could have similar interests with. Rock on!

Great romantic comedy
fandomfatale25 December 2018
I was really impressed with this movie. I thought the premise looked promising but a lot of these holiday-themed romantic movies are just the same old thing. so I wasn't expecting much. But I ended up really enjoying it, staying up late into the night to finish it. Once you've seen as many of the Hallmark movies as I have you begin to appreciate the subtle differences between each of those and between the ones on other channels like Lifetime but especially Freeform.

I thought this was almost on par with a romantic comedy that would be released to theaters.

The most meaningful thing I can say about it is that I will definitely be watching it again at some point.

A True Rarity - An Almost Perfectly Balanced Movie !!! (but Not About Christmas)
andyhain18 December 2019
Entertaining and a lot of fun !!! Early on it felt like it was going to be straight up formulaic, but it didn't turn out that way at all. The writing and the acting was a perfect match for each other. Highly Recommended!

Better than expected. Sort of Sleepless in Chicago mixed with all the rom com tropes
AlSoSprach-392328 December 2023
The title is misleading. The protagonist is doing everything she can to get a good night sleep. Anybody who has had sleep issues can totally relate. If her perfect life is so perfect why does her brain deny her well deserved rest? Bridezilla she is not but the pressure of the perfect groom coupled with a busy moment at work and the perfectly perfectionist monster-in-law turn a reasonable professional into an electric violin string. The leads are all charming, the script is predictable but sweet and funny (I particularly enjoyed the psychologist bus driver) and, amazingly enough the side characters are developed just enough not to detract from the main plot, but do come across less monodimensional than in the average romcom. Sweet, easy, not at all a waste of time. Naturally, if you are looking for tips on how to relax, get a good night sleep or know when it is appropriate to break up with your significant other, this is not the movie for you.

The movie that ruined Christmas
DanMexC2 February 2022
They somehow don't realize they've made the main character the villain. She breaks her fiance's heart even though he's been nothin but pleasant the whole time. How are we supposed to root for her?

Horrible, honestly horrible. I can not enjoy a movie, in which I hate both main characters... horrible.

And yet, even if I didn't hate both characters, the cinematography is lousy, lazy, and a cheap attempt at a Christmas movie.

Crazy
Jackbv1231 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The premise of this is so crazy, you just have to take it as it comes. Lizzy is annoying. She and Josh are supposed to be control freaks and she is on the high end of that. Billy is totally the opposite. I tend to be a planner so I don't know if I could stand to spend any time with him.

There are a lot of good gags and lines, but I had a hard time relaxing and enjoying this. I don't really like movies where one of the intended romantic leads is already in a committed relationship with someone else. It feels like cheating. In a real way it is cheating. And I also really dislike stories with a wedding ruined at the altar. I think this movie might be a blast if you can set that aside.

Like any good story, there needs to be a conflict or obstacle. Even though it was obvious something like this was coming, it was still interesting.

Except for the dates on the calendar this movie has almost nothing to do with Christmas. There is one Christmas event and it comes and goes and really isn't significant in the story.

A change to the ho hum grind me out Christmas movies...
maggie122412 December 2018
I do not agree with the negative reviews. I found that the chemistry between the two lead characters worked, did not realize they were married until I googled the film locations.... So, now on to what was great...This was certainly not a typical "Hallma..." you know who ... movie, which I for one appreciated. It had a decent storyline, and in the end girl chooses the right guy...which ultimately let's face it, isn't that why we watch these kinds of movies? There was no bad language or sex, it was a good tween age and adult movie....

Healthy relationship who?
sarahthomas-455903 February 2022
I feel like the only people who could possibly enjoy this trash are those who have never had a healthy relationship. I agree with Drew Gooden. The plot and main characters are infuriating. At what point are either of them in a position to be redeemed and thus "rooted for?"

Unfunny, boring, and just downright wrong. This movie teaches you to practically cheat on your fiancée for 0 reason because there's some sort of connection? Ridiculous, shameful movie.

Bad movie all around. I find it hard for her to leave a wonderful man that loved her and is good looking for that bum. But whatever, I guess she found her happiness in a pathetic way.

Fun Movie, Good chemistry.
jk-692-23639420 December 2018
This is not really a Christmas movie. It is a story that takes place during the season of Christmas. I felt like the quality of actors was above most "Christmas" movies. I liked the story and I enjoyed the movie. I found it sweet. I endorse this as a fun and entertaining movie with good acting. For those going all moral on the story, it is not meant to be a life lesson people. It is a meet cute fall in love with a hook story. You gotta judge these movies for what they are.

The worst movie ever made
nwxxdss5 February 2022
This is hands down the worst movie in cinematic history. The directors and producers must be braindead to think people would agree with the actions of the main character. Cheating on your spouse when they've done nothing but love and cherish you is disgusting. Hopefully the directors retired after this movie was made.

A Great Movie
gabbykbuck712 December 2018
I was skeptical when I started watching this. I had not heard anything about it and it seemed like an odd idea for a movie. With that being said, it was amazing. I was so interested and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. It was executed perfectly. I would 100% recommend "No Sleep 'Til Christmas".

Morally pathetic. And awful random Christmas movie
cniknik11 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The main woman in the story basically has an affair with man days before her wedding before leaving the man who did nothing wrong at the alter. There is no sex but cheating is more than doing certain things of unfaithfulness. She lied and snuck away from her fiance without telling him anything and ended up happy I the end. No mention of what happened to man whose life she altered or how she destroyed the mother in law's trust. The Christmas theme is just thrown in. I understand it is important to follow your heart and do what I right and healthy for you, but don't hurt others in the process.
