Shark Invasion AKA Shark Harbour: Lacks imagination
17 March 2019 | by PlatypuschowSee all my reviews

In keeping with the never ending obsession with sharks, Ultramarine Films delivers yet another documentary regarding the already saturated subject matter.

It follows researchers as they proceed to investigate if there is a reason for the spate of shark attacks in the area. 3 in 3 weeks is pretty unheard of, random coincidence or something more grim?

Rather short at less than an hour something about this feels off, it feels staged, scripted and just lacks authenticity. Sure nobody can deny what the experts are doing, tagging the sharks or the research and their conclusions, but it feels more like a docu-movie than a documentary.

The dialogue is lifeless, awkward and looks pre-setup. I've seen how these things are constructed first hand and fear that this is one of those.

For the most avid shark fan among you then you might find interest but from experience there are better feature length documentaries out there about the subject matter that are more in depth and don't feel staged.

The Good:

Competently made

The Bad:

Some sub par audio in a couple of places

Feels staged
