Trivia

Early in the game's history, a user posted a story on the Minecraft forums. It said that the user spawned in a new world. As the user was exploring, he encountered several structures that didn't normally spawn in the game, including, but not limited to: underwater pyramids and 1x2 tunnels. The user thought nothing of it until, in the distance, he saw a figure resembling Steve (the default Minecraft character) with his eyes rolled back. As soon as the user saw this entity, it ran away quickly into the fog, but not before the user took an image of the mysterious being, which was named Herobrine. This spawned many Creepypastas (horror stories based on urban myths). Notch has often stated that Herobrine does not exist. However, he can be seen in different artwork for the game, but this is likely a joke. In many patch notes, it will jokingly say, "removed Herobrine", because Notch wanted people to know that the character isn't real. See more »

If you could take one game to Mars MINECRAFT would be the one to take!
8 July 2018 | by timothydmonksSee all my reviews

I'll keep it short and spoiler free. I've easily put thousands of hours into Minecraft since its release, and while I now tend to play video games for about 3 hours in a two-week span, this game has a lot going for it. From singleplayer, to building literally anything you could possible dream up in creative mode (Walt Disney World, for example), to exploring hundreds of different types of servers like arcade, roleplaying, hunger games, city servers, and much more, the community's servers is what has lifted Minecraft to its status. Yet even without that there are so many ways you can approach the game modes.

I highly recommend this game for singleplayer, but especially for multiplayer. The community has obviously changed as time has gone on, and from my view weakened, but the game itself is endless in a good way.

The main complains I have is the lack of native mod-support which I believe has limited a game which has otherwise limitless customizability, but it is not a big deal. Obviously, every game should not be made like Minecraft, but Minecraft I feel is the first game to be more than a game.
