First Look at John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot in BBC's Adaptation of Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders

Here's our first look at John Malkovich in the role of Hercule Poirot in BBC's upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders. As you can see, he's dialed back on the look of the character and isn't going for the over-exaggerated version that we've seen in recent depictions like Kenneth Branagh in Murder on the Orient Express.

The story is set in the 1930's which is "a time when the nation is dangerously divided, with suspicion and hatred on the rise. In the midst of this tension, Poirot faces a serial killer known only as "A.B.C." First the killer strikes in Andover, then Bexhill. As the murder count rises, the only clue is the copy of the ABC Railway Guide at each crime scene. Poirot’s investigations are thwarted at every turn by an enemy determined to outsmart him. If the detective is to match his nemesis,

John Malkovich is Hercule Poirot in 'ABC Murders' First-Look for Amazon/BBC

John Malkovich’s upcoming portrayal of Hercule Poirot appears to be a little less wild on the facial hair front than recent depictions of the famed literary detective.

Malkovich plays the lead in the three-part adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic for the BBC and Amazon, starring alongside Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), Andrew Buchan, Eamon Farren, Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones) and Bronwyn ...

Adult Babies gets an exclusive reveal at Horror Channel FrightFest Glasgow 2017, in anticipation of the event, actress / producer Joanne Mitchell – star of Before Dawn and Bait; and creator of Adult Babies – answers 10 scary questions…

When did your fascination for horror films begin?

I’ve been interested in horror since being a young kid. I liked to be frightened, whether it be reading a scary book, or watching one of the Hammer House of Horrors. But it wasn’t until my 30’s that I really became fascinated with the whole genre after making ‘Before Dawn’ and watching back to back movies at FrightFest!! The fans are so loyal and open minded and really know their stuff.

What was the first horror film you saw?

I’m pretty sure it was ‘The Thing’. If I remember rightly my brother and his mates had managed to get a copy and I snuck in!

Newswire: Jennifer Lynch to direct horror flick about a killer Halloween theme park

Filmmaker Jennifer Chambers Lynch (Boxing Helena, Chained) appears to have spun a couple of work-for-hire TV episode jobs into a feature horror movie gig. The director, whose father is Twin Peaks creator David Lynch, has helmed just two episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead, but those two episodes are undoubtedly among the most affecting and fear-inducing installments of the all-too-often disappointing series. Her work on the fifth season’s “Spend” and the sixth season’s “Jss” so impressed Twd producer Gale Anne Hurd that she decided to tap her for a Halloween-themed film she had in the works, according to Deadline.

“When I saw the level of passion and professionalism Jen brought to The Walking Dead when she directed for us, I knew I had found the right director to helm Hellfest,” Hurd explained. “Her vision for the film is not only compelling and character driven, but very, very

Spotlight on the films of Women Horror Directors

Although relatively scarce, horror movies directed by women are out there. You may have to turn over a few rocks to know who they are and their material might be a little more difficult to get your hands on, but these directors deserve just as much attention and scrutiny as their male counterparts, who have long dominated the genre. The following discusses selections of female directors’ forays into the business of terror. (This post contains spoilers)

Antonia Bird

The late director Antonia Bird’s Ravenous is a bizarre amalgamation of humor and horror that explores cannibalism with warped nuance. The strangely cacophonous score builds up tension as craven outcasts face a glutinous and depraved attacker whose strength seems fortified by his consumption of human flesh. Set during America’s westward expansion, the metaphor of humanity’s insatiable appetite for power is plain to see, but its execution indulges in such

James Wan Lines Up An Adaptation Of The Boy Who Drew Monsters

While James Wan has projects lined up that encompass many genres – Aquaman and MacGyver, to name just two – horror is clearly where the filmmaker’s heart is. His directorial efforts may be diversifying, but his producer’s eye remains focused clearly on the shadowy, darker corners of the minds of his audience – and those shadows will soon take the form of an adaptation of the popular 2014 novel, The Boy Who Drew Monsters, by Keith Donohue.

The adaptation will be written by Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time) and Richard Naing (making his screenwriting debut), and will be produced by Wan for New Line. The plot of the book has all the elements of a great scary tale, featuring aspects of ghost stories, combined with a ‘creature feature’ atmosphere.

“Ever since he nearly drowned in the ocean three years earlier, ten year old Jack Peter Keenan has been deathly afraid to
