Popular womanizer Gordon Adams (26) is murdered aboard Andrew Bailey's yacht during the annual Ernest Hemingway lookalikes booze cruise, with poisoned moonshine. Jim's team works out brilliant bar owner Frank Ford and his crazy rival neighbor, Gordon's uncooperative widow Shelby, are part of an old moonshine feud, with personal complications. Jeff is trying to settle in without his father again while Callie's attractive ex and now again colleague Dr. Ben Avery asks her out, surprisingly to propose a way out for a professional problem nobody expected.

The elevator doors on the hospital set open and close by hand. It uses a counter weight and pulley system, which is commonly used on single-floor sets to mock real elevators. The area where Jim and Callie meet Shelby and her dog Beau was filmed in Broward County's Everglades Holiday Park near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Beau also starred in the episode Old Ghosts as the dog who bit Jim as he struggled with suspect Tommy Ray. The discovery of Gordon Adams' body at the boat ramp was filmed at John U. Lloyd Beach State Park located in Dania Beach, Florida. For the opening scene, a real glass bottom boat was used with a real body underneath it. An actor floated under the boat to get the shot but for safety purposes, a stunt diver stayed with him with a separate air tank. See more
