Review from The New York Times, 10 October 2018 (by Maria Theresa Hart): "A whodunit series from Australia, "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" is ideal background TV for fans of old-fashioned thrillers. Set in Melbourne in the late 1920s, the show follows Phryne Fisher (a sparkling Essie Davis), a self-described "lady detective." Each episode follows a basic formula and is self-contained, kicking off with a murder and closing with the captured killer, which is a snap to follow no matter how many browser tabs you have open. And a huge part of the show's appeal comes from Miss Fisher's spectacularly glamorous flapper ensembles, all topped off with coordinated cloche hats. These outfits, like Miss Fisher's quippy one-liners, can be appreciated as isolated diversions by even the most distracted viewer."
