Storyline

When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth's very survival, world governments unite and create the Dutch Boy Program: a world wide net of satellites, surrounding the planet, that are armed with geoengineering technologies designed to stave off the natural disasters. After successfully protecting the planet for three years, something is starting to go wrong. Two estranged brothers are tasked with solving the program's malfunction before a world wide Geostorm can engulf the planet.

Goofs

Just after Cheng Long is hit by the car Secret Service Agent Sarah Wilson follows a vehicle down a street with the dome of The United States Capital clearly shown in the background. There are no streets off of Dupont Circle that would show The Capital building in the line of sight. The closest point would possibly be along Pennsylvanian Avenue via Washington Circle Park which is .6 miles away and that would still require looking through The White House and Executive Building Complex. Hannah Lawson: [narrating] Everyone was warned, but no one listened. A rise in temperature, ocean patterns changed and ice caps melted. They call it extreme weather. They didn't know what "extreme" was. In the year 2019, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and droughts unleashed a wave of destruction upon our planet. We didn't just lose towns or beachfronts. We lost entire cities. The East River swallowed Lower Manhattan. A heat wave in Madrid killed two million people in just one day. But in that ...

Reminded me more of a low (very low) budget disaster movie
2 November 2017 | by denise-314See all my reviews

This was bad.... really bad! I am a big disaster movie fan and can sit through most things, but wow this was really boring.. the characters are shallow, predictable and the chemistry between them stilted and forced.

The special effects were OK, but you just didn't get any sense of the fear because there was no character that developed enough for you to fear for them.

I think a better movie would have been Gerard Butler developing the satellite system and saving the world from Global Warming in the first place.. at least that may have been believable.

I watched Geo Disaster on Syfy the other day and at the time was thinking that it would be a poor mans Geostorm.. but seriously it turned out to be the better of the two films.. that should tell you just how dreadful this film was. It only gets 2 because the special effects were OK.
