Located in Les Cayes, Haiti, Pwoje Espwa is an orphanage to about 750 children, a school to over 2,500 kids in southern Haiti, and an employer of nearly 250 local Haitians. The project was started by Fr. Marc Boisvert in 1998 with financial support of a few friends in the States. At that time, Fr. Marc was taking in street children who had no family, no home, and no food. Today, the project has expanded to take in, not only street children, but also economic orphans--those children with families who simply cannot afford to feed, educate, and raise them. The children of Espwa are being given an opportunity to gain tools that will one day allow them to fend for themselves in Haiti.
