Jason Momoa to lead Apple’s sci-fi drama See

Back in January it was announced that Apple has granted a straight-to-series order for See, a sci-fi drama from writer Steven Knight and director Francis Lawrence, and now comes word that Game of Thrones and Aquaman star Jason Momoa has been cast in the lead role.

Deadline reports that See is “an epic, world-building drama set in a future when the human race has lost the sense of sight, and society has had to find new ways to interact, to build, to hunt, to survive. All of that is challenged when a set of twins with sight is born.” Momoa is set to portray Baba Voss, described as a fearless warrior, leader and guardian.

Jason Mamoa Will Play a Fearless Warrior in See, Apple's New Series Set in the Future

Jason Momoa has got an interesting new project lined up. The series is called See, and Momoa is going to play a character named Baba Vass, who is described as a fearless warrior, leader and guardian. There's not much known about the plot but THR says that it's an "epic, world-building drama set in the future."

The Crow was supposed to be Momoa's next project, but he ended up dropping out when the director dropped out. As that movie lingers in limbo, Momoa is moving on with his career and it looks like See will be the next project that he works on.

The script for the series comes from Steven Knight and Francis Lawrence will direct it.

This should end up being a great project for Momoa to be a part of. It's seem like the kind of character that he'll fit right into. He likes playing fearless warriors,

‘Red Sparrow’ 4K Blu-ray Review: Is the Underrated Thriller Worth the Upgrade?

Camera technology has advanced tremendously over the last decade or two, as more and more filmmakers have stretched the limits of digital cinematography. And now, with the advent of 4K televisions and Blu-rays, we can experience that pristine image quality like never before. But while most new releases are now coming to 4K Blu-ray, not all films are worth the increased price. One that is, however, is Red Sparrow, a dramatic spy thriller directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and starring Jennifer Lawrence, that was released to little fanfare earlier this year. The film is …

'Jurassic World 2' Roars into Domestic Theaters as 'Incredibles 2' Looks to Hold Strong

'Jurassic World 2' Roars into Domestic Theaters as 'Incredibles 2' Looks to Hold Strong
While it may not appear out of the ordinary, this weekend's release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and its anticipated $100+ million opening will mark only the second time ever that two different films have opened with over $100 million back-to-back at the box office.

The first and last time this happened was in 2007 when Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End opened with $114.7 million following Shrek the Third's $121.6 million opening the weekend prior. In fact, the rarity of what will take place this weekend doesn't end there as only eight times following a $100+ million performance at the weekend box office has a film not repeated at #1 the following weekend. Even more rare, two films have never brought in more than $100 million over the same weekend.

Should Incredibles 2 drop 45.26% or less this weekend we'll have yet another piece of history to discuss come Sunday morning.

After debuting internationally just over two weeks ago,

‘Hunger Games’ Director Francis Lawrence to Helm Hulk Hogan-Gawker Movie

‘Hunger Games’ Director Francis Lawrence to Helm Hulk Hogan-Gawker Movie
Francis Lawrence, who directed the last three “Hunger Games” movies and “Red Sparrow,” will direct and produce “Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue.”

Charles Randolph, who won an Academy Award for his “Big Short” screenplay, is attached to write the adaptation for the project, which was unveiled in March by producer David A. Neuman, CEO and partner of Blackrock Productions.

Neuman made the announcement Monday and said he is targeting an A-list cast to play the story’s principals — Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, and Nick Denton.

Published in February, “Conspiracy” outlines the tempestuous legal battle between the pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea); Gawker Media and its founder, Denton; and Silicon Valley titan Thiel — who secretly funded Hogan’s successful lawsuit over the publication of a sex tape involving Hogan. The suit resulted in a $140 million judgment against Gawker and led to Gawker’s subsequent bankruptcy.

Top 4 reasons why Katherine Langford (’13 Reasons Why’) could pull off an upset at the MTV Movie and TV Awards

Top 4 reasons why Katherine Langford (’13 Reasons Why’) could pull off an upset at the MTV Movie and TV Awards
Can Katherine Langford (“13 Reasons Why”) upset Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things“) by winning Best Performance in a Show at the MTV Movie and TV Awards? Brown is the defending champion, and these awards are decided by fans voting online, so it would be no surprise if voters are just as fond of her the second time around. That’s what we’re predicting: Brown gets leading odds of 10/11 based on the combined predictions of hundreds of Gold Derby users. But here are four reasons why Langford could upset.

1. “13 Reasons Why” just returned for its second season — “Stranger Things” premiered its second season back in the fall of 2017, while fellow Netflix drama “13 Reasons Why” just returned on May 18, so fans will be watching it right now while they’re voting for the winners. Being so fresh in mind could give Langford a huge boost.

2. This is the only opportunity

‘Black Panther’ Passes ‘Lion King,’ ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ at U.S. Box Office

Disney-Marvel’s “Black Panther” has topped a trio of blockbusters — “The Lion King,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” — to become the 17th highest domestic release in only 13 days.

Black Panther” took in $6.8 million on Wednesday, lifting its North American total to $428.7 million. It’s now $7 million behind “E.T. — The Extraterrestrial” for the 16th spot.

The superhero tentpole also grossed $8.3 million internationally on Wednesday to push the worldwide take to $763.3 million, surpassing “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

Black Panther,” starring Chadwick Boseman and directed by Ryan Coogler, has blown past last month’s tracking that showed it would open domestically in the $100 million-to-$120 million range. Instead, it launched with $242 million on Presidents Day weekend and followed with $111.7 million in its second frame.

Recent forecasts place “Black Panther” with $55 million and $75 million in North America to dominate the box office again in its third weekend.

The Preview Reel: Red Sparrow and Death Wish

Welcome to the “Preview Reel” column, where we look at the week’s upcoming wide-release movies. Black Panther was once again the king of the box office as the latest Marvel flick enjoyed the second biggest second weekend ever, scoring an amazing $108 million. There is no stopping the Wakanda king, but two new releases will try with Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Sparrow and the Bruce Willis revenge thriller Death Wish debuting this weekend. Neither will come close to taking down the mighty Marvel movie, but will either be any good?

Red Sparrow

What we are excited about: Say what you want about the “Hunger Games” franchise, but the second installment, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), is the best young-adult adaption film we’ve gotten in a while. Francis Lawrence’s direction added a lot more depth and emotion to the dystopian world and he seemed to work well with Jennifer Lawrence.
