- Rebecca and Sean both have less than traditional ways to deal with Rebecca's miscarriage. Partly because Sean decides to go off his meds so that he can feel the true pain associated with it, Sean and Rebecca's methods of mourning end up being somewhat incompatible. Something that Rebecca and Sean do in combination about the miscarriage directly affects Cathy. In addition, it also makes Cathy realize that she has been so busy dealing with the life part of her illness that she totally forgot about the death part, namely making arrangements for what will happen to her body post-mortem. Meanwhile, Adam has joined an on-line support group called Kids of Cancer. After several on-line discussions with fellow kid of cancer "Poppy K", he suggests they meet to which Poppy wholeheartedly agrees. Poppy ends up being nothing like Adam imagined, which may not be a totally bad thing. And even though Paul asked for a part of the cut Mykail gets from lifting and selling items from the store, he begins to feel more uncomfortable about it when he sees the extent of Mykail's thefts.—Huggo
- Rebecca goes shopping for a casket for a symbolic burial following her miscarriage. She wants the big shiny one and says she'll need room for a photo booth and a sushi bar at the funeral. Cathy tries to talk to her, suggesting she not be dealing well with her grief. Cathy volunteers that when she miscarried she planted a tree. Rebecca assures her she's fine, but she should worry about Sean since he went off his meds to be able to properly grieve.
When Rebecca says she wants to bury the casket on the Tolkey family plot, Cathy says there isn't one. Rebecca points out that she has cancer and no plans.
Back home, Cathy checks out caskets in a brochure. Paul doesn't want to talk about it. They accept delivery of a giant bouquet of flowers. Cathy takes it over to Sean, who is pleased his obituary is working. Cathy tries to convince him to go back on his meds, saying it's an emotional time. "Exactly, and I plan on feeling every bit of it," Sean says.
Paul comes to the loading dock to find Mik loading up a station wagon with stolen loot. He gives Paul his cut. Paul assures Mik he's only taking the money to pay for Cathy's cancer bills. Mik says he uses most of the money to keep Andrea in bling.
Back home, Andrea sews her sparkly outfit for the funeral. Cathy tries to ask about Mik. Andrea announces "Mik and I are going to do it."
She confesses it'll be her first time. Cathy tells her to keep her expectations low and make sure he's respectful.
Rebecca comes in and asks Cathy to say a eulogy for baby Cathy, who died at 18 weeks and who no one ever met.
Cathy works on it at her next treatment appointment. She gets as far as: "Gone too soon. Whoever she was."
Back home, Cathy arrives to find "breakfast mourning" muffins delivered for her. Paul shows her the rest -- a dining room full of floral arrangements. People are mistaking Sean's obituary for his unborn child for Cathy's. Paul's psyched by the level of response.
At Sean's house, he works furiously to take apart a baby crib. He chews out Rebecca for not being more upset. She insists she's trying to see the positive, because she didn't even think she could get pregnant. Sean tells her he's going to have a changing table bonfire tomorrow.
In his room, Adam reads a condolence card and logs onto a cancer chat room. He IMs someone named Poppy and suggests they meet.
Cathy and Paul lie on the ground to check out their possible burial plot. Cathy asks if he'll come visit her. She likes the plot OK even though it's shaded, but Paul is not thrilled that he's facing Alfonso P. Dick. Cathy wishes she could lie in the sun forever and not have it kill her.
Adam goes to meet Poppy in a restaurant. She's older than him (Parker Posey). He's creeped at first and wants to leave, but she tells him her dad has lung cancer and invites him to play a game.
At the funeral, Cathy is accosted by her old friend Julie, who thought it was for adult Cathy. She finds her entire high school swim team is there. They hop up and down with glee to see her. Rebecca asks them to take it down a notch. When Julie hears who the funeral is really for, she mentions that when she miscarried she planted a tree. Cathy turns to Paul, realizing she's at her own funeral.
At the restaurant, Poppy curses up a storm and then invites herself to the "fetus funeral."
Back at that event, Julie reminds Cathy about good advice she gave her in high school: "don't delay the happy." Paul is horrified to see his old hook-up walk in. She hugs him and grabs his butt, assuring him she's there for him. He tells her about the mix-up, but she decides to hit the open bar instead of leaving.
Cathy introduces herself to Poppy and explains the chat room.
Rebecca tells Cathy to ask her friends to quit hogging the photo booth. She says they're not there for her loss. Cathy points out to Rebecca how ridiculous it is that she was going to name her baby after her, then announced the funeral and, since Cathy is the one who's actually sick, she should get to enjoy seeing her old friends.
In response, Rebecca tells her to forget about doing the eulogy.
And that's when Cathy sees "Rugby slut." She's already drunk by the time Cathy gets over to her and assures Cathy she'll look after Paul when she goes. Cathy calmly tells her she hopes Paul does find a nice woman when she's gone, but it won't be her and she'll claw her way back from the grave to haunt her if she gets near him.
They're interrupted by Sean, still off his meds, addressing the room. He rants about the government not giving birth or death certificates for miscarriages. He drops his pants, announcing baby Cathy will live forever -- he shows off his butt tattoo, which reads "Cathy."
The mourners start to clear out. Cathy takes the podium, urging people not to wait to tell people what they mean to them. She thanks baby Cathy for affecting them all, giving Sean a chance to be really happy and bringing out a soft side of tough Rebecca and she brought everybody there for Cathy today. She urges them, "don't delay the happy." Rebecca finally breaks down in tears.
Mik walks Andrea to the Max Buy van and she talks about how creepy she finds dead bodies. Mik tells her not to turn around as one is unloaded from a hearse. He looks deep into her eyes and promises to protect her. She's turned on and they make out.
Adam says good bye to Poppy and she speeds off, driving by the now rocking Max Buy van. Cathy tells Paul she thinks Rebecca got it right, celebrating big.
Paul excuses himself for a minute to go give the funeral director a wad of cash. He asks for the best plot they have, with full sun.
Cathy visits Rebecca. She apologizes for her friends. Rebecca asks if they would be friends if they met as adults. Cathy notices she's packing. Rebecca says she and Sean both need someone to take care of them and neither of them are up to it. She's going back to Chicago to be by herself.
Rebecca says she should have planted a tree.
In the neo-natal unit, Sean volunteers to hold tiny babies, thinking about what might have been.
