Do I expect too much?

I was shocked to hear the narrator (Goldblum) explain that Antarctica was "the size of North America and Mexico combined." Unless the continents have been remapped since I went to school, Mexico is part of North America. Not having access to my DVR, I had to confirm what my ears had heard; and found this text for subtitling http:// movie.subtitlr.com/subtitle/show/471983

Another example of how poorly 'Americans' are educated regarding the world just outside their borders. It is amazing that the Science channel (Discovery network) would allow such things through. Spoiled any educational value of the show for me. Can I trust their experts to be properly versed in more rigorous disciplines if they're not even aware of the 3rd largest occupant of the continent where they live?
