Not worth the time
godofodd13 March 2012
This was beyond awful. There is absolutely nothing worthwhile about this film. The tactic of including "Re-Animation" in the title—as if tying it to Re-Animator along with the inclusion of Jeffrey Combs—is nothing but a shameless money grab.

The effects are so bad they can't even be considered "camp". Ridiculous green-screening, choppy transitions between live actor and gaudy special effects dummy take you completely out of what little "moment" they've built up.

Combs is wooden and not at all his usual creepy self. Kinda digging the moustache, but that hardly carries the film.

This is not destined for a cult following of any kind. It's not that kind of bad. Skip it entirely.

I Was Lured by the Name of Jeffrey Combs in the Cast
claudio_carvalho5 December 2012
In Hinzmaville, the mortician Gerald Tovar Jr. (Andrew Divoff) has inherited the mortuary Tovar & Son after the death of his father. Gerald is not happy with the work of his assistant DyeAnne (Robin Sydney) and his Aunt Lou (Melissa Bailey) hires Cristie Forrest (Sarah Lieving) to be the substitute for DyeAnne.

When Gerald's brother, Harold (Jeffrey Combs), visits him, Gerald discloses to Harold that the corpses delivered by the U.S. Army are reanimating and he shows the crematory to him full of bodies and body parts. The skeptical Gerald believes that his brother is insane and leaves the place. However, Aunt Lou opens the door and is bitten by a zombie, beginning an outbreak in the mortuary.

"Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation" has just been released on straight on DVD in Brazil and I was excited with the expectations of a great zombie movie with Jeffrey Combs to entertain during the interruption of "The Walking Dead". Unfortunately, despite the reasonable special effects and make-up, the story is lame and stupid, with a shotgun that does not need to reload and a ridiculous conclusion. Therefore this Z-movie does not work. My vote is three.

Title (Brazil): "A Noite dos Mortos Vivos: Re-Animação" ("Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation")

This is why Horror is going down these days...bad bad bad
eoliarez9 October 2012
Pure crap ! I'm a zombie fan and I remember Jeffrey combs in "From Beyond" and "Re-Animator" (that I actually saw in Avoriaz Horror Festival in France when released...that's a while back) but I would have preferred to keep this old memory of him ... intact ! This is nonsense horror ! The acting is not that bad but this is just pure boredom...the effects are way beyond average and there is no tension at all. I don't always look for scare but zombies can be really scary when well directed...this isn't the case ! I actually deleted the movie after watching it (something that I rarely do). I rated 3 because 1 is for garbage...this is only useless crap and the effort is worth a 3 ! The biggest question is: why make such movie ? I think it's only direct to DVD attempt to make a few bucks using a marketing title and the presence of the old actor of Re-Animator ! It's sad to see Horror taking such path these days.

Night of the ... are you kidding me?
paul_haakonsen13 March 2012
I must say that I was rather excited when I first saw the information about this movie being in the making and I was anxiously awaiting it. Why? Well first of all, I am a huge fan of zombies and "Night of the Living Dead" is the groundbreaking milestone within the genre. Plus it also have Jeffrey Combs on the list of cast, and I admire his work in the horror genre.

Having seen the movie, I sit here somewhat baffled. I have a terrible sensation of having been disappointed and cheated out of something grand. Perhaps I just had way too high expectations for this movie, because it fell short of delivering anything that I was expecting.

I wonder why the movie got the title that it did, because it really didn't have much to do with the original "Night of the Living Dead" movie, except for tossing the occasional reference that true zombie fans will pick up on. Sure, it was taking place at the same location, but in overall, this movie might as well just had been titled "Re-Animation", because it didn't really bring enough with it to be worthy of a place in the Romero series.

Storywise, "Night of the Living Dead: Re-Animation" didn't really offer much of a solid story to hold on to. There was given a very vague explanation to the cause of the zombie outbreak, but it wasn't a very plausible one, and I didn't buy into it. Plus, I would have liked to seen a more thorough tie-in to the original "Night of the Living Dead" movie. But hey, I had perhaps just too high hopes and expectations for this particular movie.

As for the cast. Well I was thrilled to see Jeffrey Combs in a zombie movie, although I have to say that his performance in this movie is far from his best. A second iconic horror actor, Andrew Divoff, has the lead role in the movie, and he actually does keep the movie afloat. Without him, the movie would have been less than the mediocre result it was.

There wasn't really a lot of zombies in the movie, and the ones that was there had far from enough screen-time, and you hardly got to see any cool zombie make-up and special effects. Which was a major disappointment, especially in 2012 where effects and CGI should be almost a household item. And as for gore, well there was very little of that too in "Night of the Living Dead: Re-Animation".

One of the better parts of this movie was the various hints and references to other zombie movies. Some were blunt and in your face, while others were more subtle, leaving it up to real zombie aficionados to locate and point them out.

Oh, and you just got to love the scene where Gerald Tovar, Jr. is shooting zombies in the crematorium with the shotgun. Classic Hollywood moment there, as he doesn't reload, and the shotgun fires off way over 20 shots. Actually I counted 29 in total, so that was pretty awesome. Hooray for Hollywood firearms.

For a 2012 zombie movie, "Night of the Living Dead: Re-Animation" was a rather dull and mediocre experience. My hopes and expectations for this movie was shut down pretty fast. Having seen it, I am fairly certain that this particular zombie movie is not one that I will be making a second watching of.

The kind of film you would only watch once...
Michael-Hallows-Eve22 September 2012
This movie was not too bad but in saying that it wasn't great either. The CGI effects in some parts was second rate and the acting was average too, although I did like Andrew Divoff and Jeffrey Combs in this. The story wasn't ground breaking either, but there were a few funny bits in the film. I have to say that some of the zombies looked pretty good for a B type movie, and some of the bloody gory parts were not that bad, but again they were out weighed by the average parts of the film. I did try to give it a chance, and like I said, it wasn't really bad, but it's the kind of movie that once you see you really don't need to see it again. So I give it a 4 out of 10.

Another pointless remake
80sHorror29 March 2012
This movie is truly an insult to George Romero. The acting and the zombie effect were barely above normal but the story is so weak. It's essentially a zombie movie taking place in a pot farm. The pot humors aren't funny at all and they never ever gotten around to barricading the windows.

Yes, they added nudity but was that remotely necessary? The ending was also very weak!!They had a perfectly good movie from which to base this movie on and they still managed to botch it up. I really do wonder about all these direct-to-DVD horror movies that have no reasons for being made and can only trick people into buying because there are no reviews.

good title bad flick
trashgang8 April 2012
With a title like this what could probably go wrong? And with two horror icons as main lead what can go wrong? What a great title, Night Of The Living Dead surely will attract horror and zombie geeks. And face it, Re-animator also is a big teaser. This is great.

Sadly the title is the only thing that is great. The acting by Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster) and Jeffrey Combs (Re-animator) was for me okay but the script itself had nothing to offer. There are here and there a few killings that are nice to see like the bashing of a head but most of the effects are pure cheap CGI. Just see for example one zombie being hit with acid, how stupid that CGI effect was. But it is really the story itself, there's too much of talking and there isn't anything happening. The zombies itself did look great in the beginning and looked gory and nasty but once the horde comes alive in the cellar it's as stupid as it good be. No effects or make-up. They did add some funny notes towards the geeks with referring to the Pittsburg outbreak in 1968 and the Romero zombies in the cellar.

On the other hand the scene were they are tripping do offers some necrophilia by Dyeanne (Robin Sydney) but again it is really a let down. I knew Robin from Wicked Lake (2008) and there she shows that she isn't afraid to show some flesh but here it's just a underwear girl sitting a top a zombie.

Jeff Broadstreet, the director, should have known better with already one NOTLD remake on his list, the 3D flop with Sid Haig. It is really weird with those two icons that they couldn't save this terrible flick, even familiar faces like Sarah Lieving (Cristie Forest) and Robin Sydney couldn't add anything towards this turkey.

Still, it will sell due the icons and due the title but be warned that when you see Jeff's name on the list to leave it as it is. This is a perfect example how a title can sell a bad flick.

Dead bodies exposed to toxic waste in a funeral home become zombified.
Someguysomwhere14 March 2012
A man (Andrew Divoff) who inherited a funeral home from his father and who has some kind of phobia about fire or incinerators fails to dispose of bodies scheduled for cremation including a body bag of toxic refuse left over from his deceased father's side business of toxic waste disposal. You got it. Dead bodies + toxic materials = reanimated dead bodies. Zombies.

Well who doesn't like zombie movies? It's such a creepy idea. One appealing to a primitive fear: the return of the dead. Unfortunately this one is a late bloomer; and too little, too late, to make it worth your time. It's a "horror comedy" and runs about 1hr 20mins --or so-- and doesn't really get going until close to an hour in. Nothing much happens before then. The man, suspecting something is going on with his pile of stinking dead bodies (Maybe he saw one move?), sets up a camera in the crematorium to confirm his suspicions. There is 1 minor zombie incidents involving a SINGLE zombie within the space of the first 53 mins, or so, of this movie.

Filling the afore mentioned void are the antics of weed smoking employees and a visit from the man's brother (Jeffery Combs) who needs mucho dinero and who thinks his brother is bats when he tells him about what's going on in the funeral home. He wastes no time getting on his mobile pronto with his lawyer to get the wheels rolling for his brother's certification so he can sell the place and collect said dinero. Sara Palin is parodied in the movie and appears on TV in it. Later, in the better part of the movie (the last 25mins or so), she makes an appearance at the funeral home. I think 4 stars is very generous. Do you want to see a 4 star (or less) out of 10 movie? Your choice. Love, Boloxxxi.

Dear Oh Dear....
barry-steers26 April 2012
Well, where do you start with these types of terrible movies as you can spend all day pulling apart the actors, the script etc? For me, to summarize the whole film in a sentence it would be to say that if the movie didn't have 2012 tag on it I'd have guessed at somewhere in the 1980's such was the poor production, wooden acting and frankly awful dialogue. The only hint it was a 21st century movie was the obvious CGI in it. I mean, in this day and age how can this dross be made. From the opening lines in the movie you knew how bad it was going to be. The laboured and wooden performances, the terrible plot line and the excruciating dialogue that made me blush with embarrassment for the actors themselves. A very poor effort indeed for all concerned.

This Re-Animation should have stayed buried
lone-wolf-00717 January 2013
Where to begin? Sluggish pace, weak effects, weaker acting and just plain bad decisions made through out. This is a sequel to 2006's Night of the Living Dead 3D which in turn was a semi remake of the original 1968 classic. We all know the story of how the title of Night of the Living Dead is in public domain and anybody can use it. So it seems every couple of years somebody dusts it off and slaps it on a low grade zombie movie. This is exactly what we have here. Jeffrey Combs and Andrew Divoff (both have very stern roots in horror) play 2 brothers who one inherits the mortuary while the other shows up wanting to use it for a quick cash scheme. Throw in a few employees and about 20 zombies and that is the cast. The pace is very slow and when you combine that with sub par acting then it seems like the movie is longer than it is. You get a zombie here and there (only 1) and most show up in the last 20 min or so when the "outbreak" happens. I was really hoping for something slightly better than this but all I got was another disappointing zombie movie to toss on the pile. Next time use another title or come up with something original. I am giving it a 2/10.

Zombie lovers, character actor fans can't be wrong!
tommyterrible-113 March 2012
Just the first scene where a tired and weary looking Andrew Divoff (Oh Wishmaster, where hast thou gone?)grabs your attention and has put a smile on your face for nostalgia alone, well, enough said. This ain't gonna win an Oscar kids but it reminds me of the late Friday night, Saturday morning horror shows that used play on the local channels when I was a pup. And really, can you miss anything with MR. JEFFREY COMBS??? with the word "Dead" in the title, I thought not!!! "B" movie at it's finest, and can you say "CAMP"? When you think about it though, Liam Neeson - Darkman, Francis McDormand - Darkman, Sam Raimi - Darkman. Who knows where the B actors and directors of today might be tomorrow? HMMM? George Clooney - Attack of the killer tomatoes...went on to Batman and Robin...sorry, just slipped out. This movie should and has to be listed as Horror / Comedy.

"Night of the Living Dud"
gattonero97525 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a zombie fanatic , so I will see any movie with zombies in it, no matter how bad they are. When I heard that they would be doing a sequel/prequel to the N.O.T.L.D 3-D one with Sid Haig. I was excited to see it. especially since it had one of my favorite actors: The WishMaster himself: Andrew Divoff. And it also has Jeffrey Combs to boot, (who I didn't recognized because of how he has aged: he gained weight and has thinning hair, I was shocked how he changed) I said, it can't be that bad.

Well, folks, let;s say it's not that good. The only saving grace to me is great Divoff and Combs interacting with each other. And the lovely Sarah Lieving to look at. There was also the cute but weird goth-chick who's into necrophilia, actress Robin Sydney. Her love-buddy played by Adam Chambers, who looks like a young Tom Sizemore to me, really doesn't have much to do except take orders from Divoff and get high with the goth chick. He somehow winds up a zombie, but who cares.

All in all, it's not that bad, but not that good either. Just like Jeff Broadstreet's earlier effort with Sid Haig instead doing the role of Gerald Tovar, Jr. that Divoff does here. Still, it's good for at least one good viewing to see these two old greats actors acting together in a zombie atmosphere film no less. So , grab the popcorn and enjoy, just don't expect a classic, enjoy with a open mind and you'll have a 'ghoul' old time!

Slow motion root canal work
aje-599-7165243 February 2013
I had heard much good about this movie; little was I aware that it was for the original. The new iteration of it is so poorly done; the acting is horrible, the story is drawn out way beyond reason, the special effects could have been done by elementary school children and overall it's 84 minutes of my life I could have spent better and far more enjoyable on painfully plucking my facial hair, DIY dental work or basically just about anything else. Matter of fact, I created an account on IMDb for one purpose - to write this review. You may ask why I gave the movie 2 stars? Well, the story in and of itself is good. It's just playing it out that just does not work. Steer clear!

Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-prehensible.
BA_Harrison7 August 2021
Remember The Return of the Living Dead (1985), when Frank tells Freddy that George Romero's zombie classic Night of the Living Dead was based on real events? Well, the same idea is used in writer/director Jeff Broadstreet's Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-animation; however, Broadstreet is no Dan O'Bannon and his film is a worthless pile of crap - an insult to horror fans, disrespectful of Romero and his legacy, and a total embarrassment for horror icons Andrew Divoff (Wishmaster) and Jeffrey Combs (Re-animator), who I know have bills to pay, just like you and I, but seriously guys... have some dignity (just attend a few more conventions and sign autographs, while you still have fans left).

Divoff plays mortician Gerald Tovar, Jr., who has inherited his father's business, and Combs is his poverty stricken brother Harold, who arrives at the Tovar Mortuary looking for a handout. While there, Harold learns that Gerald has been hiding a terrible secret: bodies stored in the crematorium have been exposed to toxic waste and are returning from the dead!

I paid a pound for this film on DVD, reasoning that even if it wasn't very good, the pairing of Divoff and Combs should still provide some entertainment. Plus, I'm a sucker for 3D. Unfortunately, not even the gimmick of an extra dimension can save this film from being a waste of time and money (if, like me, you shelled out hard cash to see it). The writing is awful, as is the direction, with extended talky scenes that really drag, and an uneven tone: it can't decide whether to be scary or funny, or both, but manages to be neither. The absolute nadir is a dreadful drug scene where Cristie (Sarah Lieving), the new employee at the mortuary, shares a spliff with a corpse and hallucinates that DyeAnne (Robin Sydney), her goth co-worker, is riding the stiff in her underwear. I hope and pray that Romero never got to see this film, which actually makes me appreciate Survival of the Dead just a bit more. Just a bit.

2/10. Narrowly escapes getting the lowest possible rating from me thanks to a few practical gore effects that aren't terrible (although there are more than a few CGI visual effects that are).

Nice Attempt But Has Too Many Flaws
gavin69429 January 2013
After inheriting the family mortuary, a pyrophobic mortician (Andrew Divoff) accidentally exposes hundreds of un-cremated bodies to toxic medical waste...

We have ourselves a great cast here: the legendary Jeffrey Combs, the lovely rising star Robin Sydney, the under-appreciated Walter Phelan and the multifaceted Andrew Divoff. If you watch this movie for no other reason, it should be for the cast.

I liked the use of the name "Christie Forrest", and references to the other Romero films. I especially liked the mention of the "gorier" 1990 outbreak similar to the 1968 one. Horror fans wink and nod.

My biggest complaint is the inclusion of Fixd News and Sister Sara -- this was lame and not necessary... politics should generally stay out of film unless necessary (satire is good, cheap shots are divisive). If done right you get John Carpenter's "They Live" where the message is timeless. Here, we have a Sarah Palin joke that should never have been included -- she is already old news now (2012) and someday will be completely forgotten... why pick on her and Fox?

Night of the.. what??

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing this title up to be grab just make my heart pounding. I was expecting a horde of zombies swarming the place to feed on the living but what i get was just a few zombies walking in circle. This movie ain't that bad but it's just not that good either. The cast is good, the zombies look convincing but the cgi reminds me of the game The House of The Dead. This movie could have been better. The plot needs to be stronger and more convincing (i just don't buy it when the movie tells the reason why the dead is zombified). It does has something classic to relate to the original Night of The Living Dead which is slow pace and somehow i feels the movie does has the mood of the classic. Overall, the movie is not for someone who expects a fast pace action zombie movie.

not worthy of the name, very dissapionted

Warning: Spoilers
i don't understand what i just watched, it is not a remake of 'night of the living dead' it isn't a sequel, it's just a shameless cash in, and the lack of any zombie action at all, makes this one deppressing movie to watch, some of the references to romero's work are cringe worthy and cheap, and the acting don't get me started, the special effects and make up was OK, but there should of been much more than there was. the 3d was OK and some scenes were quite cool, but too much of it was just sitting around talking. my main problem with the movie though is that there was no zombie action, and minimal gore, not asking a lot there, it comes standared with the genre, so how this movie has the cheek, to even come out with the night of the living dead name is an insult, this is a bad zombie movie, a shame too because, it could of been a good one

The zombies are back in Night of the Living Dead 3D Re-animation
rgblakey2 October 2012
The George A. Romero original Night of the Living Dead has been the basis for all things zombie over the years, including remakes. In 2006 a remake was released titled Night of the Living Dead 3D directed by Jeff Broadstreet. Now Broadstreet returns again to the genre with Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-animation, a prequel to his previous entry. Will it be a respectful worthy entry to a classic genre or just another forgettable zombie film to add to the countless others?

Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-animation follows a mortician who exposes un-cremated bodies to toxic medical waste that cause them to reanimate. When his younger brother shows up and stumbles upon him trying to keep this zombie outbreak from getting outside the mortuary, their rivalry escalates as the dark family secret is revealed. This film had the chance to be a pretty fun zombie movie, but ended up just being average. Most of the issues here are pacing and lack of urgency. The first half has a lot of set up and takes a little long to get there than needed. Once the zombie fun begins it's a pretty fun movie but the characters just never seem to be all that freaked out about what's happening. What really steps this movie out of the realm of just average is the over the top performances by genre favorites Jeffery Combs and Andrew Divoff. These guys are polar opposites in acting style and really play well off of each other. Most of the best moments of the film come in the form of just watching these guys banter. There are some decent gore moments and the zombie make up effects are really well done keeping this film on par as one of the better to come along in a while.

While there are lots of areas this film could have been better, it is still a fun addition to the series. Unlike most zombie films that are just tossed out left and right these days, this one tried to stick to the rules set forth by Romero while still telling their own story. Yeah this is a bit slow, but it is a prequel so required more set up for the story they are trying to tell. In addition to the fun zombie movie itself it also sports the old school red and blue glasses 3D which works pretty well and adds the old school monster movie vibe.

More painful than a zombie bite to the arse!
Movie-Misfit3 September 2014
As an indie horror film maker, I try hard to watch most indie films, and give those indie film directors a chance. I look at the work involved and imagination the same passion going into said project as I would my own!

But then you get some indie films, much like this, and you wonder how the hell they ever got released.

Yes, some effects might be fantastic. Yes it might star cult horror stars and fun actors. And yes, it might even have some amazing box art!

But when it comes to a terrible script, poor performances and lazy direction, there is nothing that can help pull it back from the dead.

Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation doesn't even need to be in 3D, because it does damn all for it other than slow it down even more and add to the annoyance of how crap it is overall.

Sorry to say, but this is one stiff that should be left dead!

There Goes the Franchise

After inheriting the family mortuary, a pyrophobic mortician accidentally exposes hundreds of un-cremated bodies to toxic medical waste.

As the corpses re-animate, the mortician's inheritance-seeking younger brother unexpectedly shows up, stumbling upon a full zombie outbreak!

Zombie outbreak? 3/4 through the film and nary a zombie. This has to be one of the worst zombie films I have ever seen. Next to nothing happens. It's not scary nor is it funny

I was looking forward to watching this movie. I wasted 90 minutes of my life.

The budget was about ten cents. It's so bad when they have a scene of a cemetery, it's a slide!!!! They didn't even bother to shoot live.

Don't expect special effects just talk talk talk for nearly the entire film. How it got a R rating is beyond me.

Worth the watch
calligaro5 November 2019
I found the movie hilarious. I am a huge fan of both Andrew Divoff and Jeffrey Combs. I think they work incredibly well together. Would love to see them work together again. I have seen the movie multiple times and I don't get tired watching it. Couple of scenes are quite funny and real gems. You have to push aside the fact it's not a huge budget movie. It didn't need to be either. I thought it was perfect just the way it was.

Beyond the zombies there is another hidden agenda by Andrews Character. It doesn't come completely clear till the end of the movie. Pay close attention to certain details As you watch the movie and you will understand the ending. They are subtle if you don't dive deep into the character. I thought this agenda not only enriched the plot but gives you a terrific understanding of how Andrews character feels at this point in life. What he feels is missing and how he aims to fill that void.

This is my opinion. I recommend the movie 100 percent.

Well.i,m down for a good zombie flick, and as i've said before, i,ll watch just about any zombie movie.I,m also down for most bad zombie flicks, and its no shock that this one falls close to that side of the fence. Not to say its not worth a view, its just that its sorta shoddy.I liked the f.x. ,from Monster F.X. group, and the kick-ass props from those cool folks at Dapper Cadaver, and the second main actor is the world famous Jeff Combs. Those saving graces made this re-hash worth my time, and the story is a bit rearranged,so its not really a total rip-off.Mark Villalobos is quite known in the make-up s.p.f.x. world, and Dapper Cadaver did work on the last N.O.T.L.D. 3-d,so i was all for throwing down my money and time for yet another go at this one.All in all,not good,or bad, just kinda there.the gore was cool, the comedy kept low,and the rest is what you'd expect. Some shocks, some laughs, some movie!.....

Nice update but a gimmicky cash- in
amesmonde25 November 2015
Corpses reanimate after Pyrophobic mortician accidentally exposes hundreds of uncremated bodies to toxic medical waste.

To director Jeff Broadstreet's credit he does manage to bag some great actors including Andrew Divoff and Jeffrey Combs in his prequel to his 2006 film. Here Divoff replaces Sid Haig, the 3D is as gimmicky Broadstreet's first offering. It shockingly tries to cash-in on the Re-Animator series as well as the Night of the Living Dead. The acting is slightly better thanks to Divoff and Combs.

If you liked Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006) expect more of the same as Re-Animation is just as bad (or good depending on your opinion), for everyone else you may want to watch Re-Animator (1985) and Night of the Living Dead (1968) again.

Zombies at mostly their worst
ericstevenson25 November 2016
It's a shame such awful films are easy to find. As a huge fan of the Living Dead films and the zombie genre in general, I was vastly disappointed to find this remake so awful. Well, is it even really a remake? It's definitely this in name only. In fact, it even mentions the original movie or features clips from it or something. They mention a similar incident in 1968, so I guess this was instead meant to be an unofficial sequel to the original movie? I thought it would just be a cheesy remake, but it was much, much worse. It was just nothing happening for most of the movie with horrible effects and awful pacing.

I guess "Zombie Nation" is still a worse movie as it's even more boring. This of course deserves mention as one of the worst horror movies ever made. I was amazed at awful everything looked. I didn't get a chance to see this in 3D and it's easy to tell it was supposed to be like that. A lot of things just seemed to jut out at me. I'm not into 3D, but wouldn't have bothered watching this in any version really. There was some pretty bad looking CGI in this. This movie features a guy who's a mortician and zombies appear and that's about it. They barely focus on the zombies at all. The original "Night Of The Living Dead" movie was hokey, but it was also original and helped define films in general.

This film has really clumsy satire too. It features a parody of Fox News called Fixd News. Hey, that's not funny! Sarah Palin even appears and gets turned into a zombie. I don't see the joke in this. From what I recall back in 2012 when this movie was made, she wasn't a big deal. That was the election before this time. I think someone is turned into a zombie at the very end, but I don't even know. There's a scene where a cadaver comes to life but that might have just been a drug hallucination. This looks more like a low quality movie filmed for the Internet. It's lacking anything special and is an embarrassment to zombie fiction everywhere. *

Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation (2012)

* 1/2 (out of 4)

This sequel to 2006's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D isn't connected to 2009's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ANIMATED for those following all the title variations to the George A. Romero film. Mortician Gerald Tovar (Andrew Divoff) inherits the family funeral parlor and soon ends up having to take care of the "zombie" problem. When his brother Harold (Jeffrey Combs) shows up this here just causes more trouble. This here certainly isn't a "good" movie but it's a masterpiece compared to the original movie, which was one of the most pathetic zombie movies I've ever seen. This one here actually could have been a whole lot better had the story been better. What we've basically got is a very bad story stretched to nearly 90-minutes and to make up for the weak story we just get extended dialogue scenes that just drag the film down. Again, I'm a little confused why you'd make a direct-to-DVD zombie film, add mostly dialogue and not give people more zombie action. Outside a quick scene towards the start, the majority of the violence doesn't happen until the last portion of the film and by then most viewers are going to be asleep from the dialogue. Once we do get to the action the special effects aren't all that convincing but they're at least gory to keep fans happy. Those expecting greatness from the duo of Divoff and Combs might be somewhat disappointed as neither character is classic but I think they're entertaining enough. I also thought the supporting players were decent enough for this type of film. In the end, this certainly isn't a film that's going to appeal to the masses so most would be advised to stay away. The only ones who should even attempt this film are those who must see everything the genre has to offer. I will say the only really clever thing is some of the comedy that brings up other zombie movies including a nice bit about Romero's series, THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD and a pretty funny joke about the 1990 remake.
