beautiful, nuanced indie horror from Germany
20 December 2011 | by kirkjerkSee all my reviews

This movie is a beautiful horror short I saw at the Killer Film Fest 2011 in Somerville, MA.

Despite being 20 minutes, the film takes its time and sets up its space. The slice of life of the older couple living in the woods, the haunting discovery, the turn for the horrific... but is it a horrific final result, in the end analysis? The ambiguity is part of the beauty of it, and part of what sets this German-made film apart from many other "indie" horror works, along with the gorgeous lush green forest cinematography.

The soundtrack is also great, though mostly that's a haunting little song played over the end credit sequence.
