Infinity War Directors Say They Didn’t Want To Make Cap Patriotic

As the brains behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier (and Civil War!), Joe and Anthony Russo know a thing or two about Steve Rogers’ star-spangled patriot. Which is why everyone was so intrigued by Cap’s truncated arc in Avengers: Infinity War, in which he adopted the roguish, lone wolf mantle of Nomad.

Like so many other McU characters – namely Black Widow and Hawkeye – Steve Rogers is expected to enjoy a much more prominent role in Avengers 4, as the remnants of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes confront Thanos for the final (?) time.

But when it comes to their own handling of Captain America, otherwise known as the moral compass of the Avengers, Anthony Russo spoke to Wired about how he and his brother always looked to Steve Rogers as much more than just a cliched symbol of patriotism.

We entered the McU by direction Captain America: Winter Soldier. What we love

Sebastian Stan Reveals What He Did When He First Wore Bucky’s Arm

Steve Rogers’ friend Bucky Barnes isn’t exactly known for his moments of comic relief. In a pretty tragic saga that’s seen him transition from World War II sergeant in Captain America: The First Avenger to brainwashed Hydra assassin in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to wandering man out of his time in Captain America: Civil War, the hundred-year-old Avengers ally has developed an understated persona as one of the broodier, more serious-minded characters in the Marvel universe.

Of course, that doesn’t stop actor Sebastian Stan from goofing around behind the scenes. Speaking on Earth’s Mightiest Show, the McU regular looked back on the time he was given a brand new metal arm for Winter Solider, and how he used this replacement limb as an excuse to act a little silly.

“I did not do the robot,” Stan said. “I was just more like going around like grabbing things left and right,

Sebastian Stan Reveals How Gets Back Into The Mindset Of Bucky Barnes

In Captain America: Civil War, we see how the brainwashed assassin known as the Winter Soldier is put into the appropriate state of mind with a series of carefully chosen trigger words. But for actor Sebastian Stan, who’s been living in this character’s skin from the first Captain America through to Avengers: Infinity War, immersing himself back into the role of Bucky Barnes might be an even simpler process.

Cap’s longtime friend has had a rocky, decades-spanning journey which has seen him transition from World War II sergeant to Hydra puppet to Avengers ally. But going by recent statements from Stan, returning to the character is something that comes naturally to him.

“It’s really weird, because it just sort of, it’s like riding a bicycle, you never really forget in a way. That’s how I feel,” Stan told Marvel’s Earth’s Mightiest Show.

Sebastian Stan Explains How The Winter Soldier’s Arm Has Changed With The Character

Like his friend Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes is a man out of his time, having spent decades as the brainwashed puppet of Hydra before eventually returning a world he no longer recognized. But as the character’s arc has seen him progress from unwilling villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to ally to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War, his prosthetic arm has done a little adjusting, too.

On a visual level, you may have noticed that the Winter Soldier’s black, vibranium-enhanced arm sported in Wakanda is a little different from the shiny metal design we’ve seen him utilize in previous films. Speaking on Earth’s Mightiest Show, Sebastian Stan observed how the changes undergone by his replacement limb in some ways mirror the development of Bucky himself.

“The funny thing is the arms have changed throughout the movies. It’s just very interesting because

Sebastian Stan’s Favorite Bucky Line Will Bring A Tear To Your Eye

“Who the hell is Bucky?”

The once-ironclad friendship between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes is the very definition of an McU bromance – hell, it’s partially responsible for the wedge driven between Cap and Iron Man during Marvel’s Civil War.

But there’s a moment in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, not long after the Bucky’s brainwashed super-soldier has escaped into the wild, when Sebastian Stan’s anti-hero turns to his childhood friend and utters the heartbreaking line, “who the hell is Bucky.” Oh, right in the feels.

Turns out it’s actually Stan’s favorite ever line from the McU, as he revealed on the latest episode of Earth’s Mightiest Show while promoting the home video release of Avengers: Infinity War. The reveal came as part of a rapid-fire section in which the actor answered a series of McU-related questions about Bucky, Steve Rogers and everything in between.

Joe Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War Cameo Revealed

As the biggest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date and likely the biggest movie of the year as a whole, Avengers: Infinity War saw practically everyone in the franchise unite to take on the Mad Titan, who wanted to wipe out half of all life in the universe in the name of bringing back a sense of balance.

On top of all the heroes we had running around, though, the pic also found time to sneak in a few surprising cameos as well. After all, Infinity War marked the beginning of the end of the first ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it made sense that the filmmakers would want to celebrate how far the franchise has come over the last decade by squeezing in some familiar faces you might not expect to see. And that includes Joe Russo.

Yes, the co-director of the event movie

The Russos say “Avengers 4 may be our best work for Marvel”

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have amassed a rather incredible Marvel resume, but according to the brothers themselves, the best may be yet to come.

“You know, we’re very proud of it,” Joe told Deadline when asked for a few words on the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4. “I think ultimately Avengers 4 may be our best work for Marvel. I think we’ve grown with every movie that we’ve made there. We’ve grown with the characters. We’ve grown with the cast. As filmmakers we’re very happy and very excited with the movie. I feel like with Avengers 4, because it was made before there was any response to Avengers 3, it’s really pure in that regard. The storytelling is very pure. It’s without any sort of external noise creeping in at.”

‘Altered Carbon’ Renewed For Season 2, Anthony Mackie Succeeds Joel Kinnaman As Takeshi Kovacs On Netflix Series
Six months after the first season of Altered Carbon was released on Netflix, the sci-fi series has been renewed for an 8-episode second seasons with some big changes.

Anthony Mackie has been cast as the lead Takeshi Kovacs, a role originated by Joel Kinnaman in Season 1. Behind the scenes, Alison Schapker is joining the series as executive producer and will serve as co-showrunner alongside creator/executive producer Laeta Kalogridis who was showrunner on Season 1 of the Skydance TV series.

The recasting of the Takeshi Kovacs role was expected. In the world of Altered Carbon, which is based on the science fiction novels by Richard K. Morgan, the journey of Takeshi Kovacs spans hundreds of years, many different bodies, and planets.

Because of the structure of the books, each taking place in a different time frame at a different location, Kinnaman, as well as the majority of the cast,

Aquaman’s Jason Momoa met with the Russos about playing a Marvel villain

Prior to his casting as Arthur Curry in the DC Extended Universe, Aquaman star Jason Momoa was given the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he was offered the role of Drax the Destroyer in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Momoa ultimately turned down the offer, with Dave Bautista subsequently cast in the role, and it seems this wasn’t the only time he’s had a brush with the McU as he has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he also met with Anthony and Joe Russo about a potential Marvel role.

“I met the Russo brothers, who are amazing. It was one of the best meetings I’ve ever had. I was going to do something with them, which unfortunately didn’t work out. It was going to be a villain, I think. People always want to hire me to play a villain, you know?”
