Trivia Quest

While a great concept, the netflix interactive trivia just didn't work for me. Too much dead time in between, before, and after questions. The themes were okay but most questions turned out to be entertainment.

Based on the mobile game Trivia Crack, Trivia Quest is another entry in Netflix's long line of interactive features, and is another trivia-themed game alongside Cat Burglar. In this, Willy, the protagonist, needs your help to free his ten friends from the evil Rocky. To do that, you need to play the episodes (each one released daily) to earn points in order to form knowledge keys needed to free each friend, with each one needing more points than the next.

Okay, so the episodes each center around a different topic that the questions revolve around (one episode has questions based on Netflix shows, another will have questions based around the human body, etc). Each episode has two modes, a standard mode, which is the easiest, and a hard mode, which really gives your brain a workout. Each episode has up to 72 points (the total split between the two modes), and the questions are well thought out. My main gripe is unlike Cat Burglar, this keeps the questions the same, meaning after the first time, if you get any of the questions wrong, all you have to do is play again and try to remember the answers from the first time, which harms the challenge. Also, some of the questions are hard or questionable for the TV-G audience (did we really need a question about that one Cats rumor?) However, if you're hankering for trivia, check this out, as new episodes are released daily, each with a new topic.

The apps are great - fun and engaging - but they somehow managed to exclude this in the interactive series. I'm not sure why the protagonist, Willy, is presented in such a bad light. This is a character that viewers are supposed to like but, personally, I find it hard to do so when hearing the comments he makes, looking at his attitude throughout the series, and not to mention the evil facial expression when entering hard mode. The character just seems to be unlikable. As to the game in itself, Trivia shouldn't have entered the world of interactive series on Netflix purely because of its simplicity. The game is rather monotonous despite it covering different topics in each episode. As a fan of the apps, I believe that Trivia should make the game more interesting. If the technology does not allow to do so, then wait with an interactive series release. Lastly, as a European, I find it rather unamusing that the questions are based on US history and culture - but that is the least important aspect of it all.

I love this series. The questions are white challenging and the character Willy is so funny and cool. The plot also gives the game a more interesting light. I recommend the game/series. Thank you, Trivia Crack! Also, the questions in hard mode are quite thrilling. I don't know why it has such a negative reception. I found it lots of fun. Also, the cutscenes are so hilarious. That evil Rocky comes off as so silly but very entertaining. I hope we see more Trivia Crack in the future on Netflix. That would be lots of fun.

I recommend this game for the whole family to enjoy and have fun with. Good job!

I'm absolutely dying about the review that says it only asked movie based questions because they clearly only played the first episode that even stated at the beginning that it was movie themed. Each episode has a different theme and so all of the questions for that episode follow that theme. If you actually read about what you're playing and pay attention it's not difficult to realize that. Mainly leaving this review because the IMDb review section doesn't allow for comments on peoples reviews.
