Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran have a leading 15 nominations apiece at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards on May 20. All three men contend for Artist of the Year against the reigning champ Drake, who has nine nominations in all, as well as five-time contender Taylor Swift. Among those other musical artists with multiple nominations are: Post Malone, who is up for an even dozen awards; Imagine Dragons with 10 bids; eight-time nominees Justin Bieber and Cardi B; and “Despacito” duo Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee with a lucky seven. The 2018 Billboard Music Awards hosted by Kelly Clarkson will air on NBC beginning at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on Sunday, May 20. The live telecast will be available to cable and satellite TV subscribers via the NBC website and app. Behind-the-scenes interviews will be posted to the official Twitter account. Winners in a whopping 55 races will be announced prior to and during this ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The majority of awards will be handed out off-air, with most of the three-hour show filled instead with performances, including one by Clarkson who has taken home 12 Billboard Music Awards over the years. Her first was Best Selling Single of 2002 for “A Moment Like This,” her “American Idol” victory song. Grey’s Anatomy” star Chandra Wilson has joined the romantic musical “Christmas Harmony” with Kelley Jakle, Sally Struthers, Lee Garlington, and vocalist/guitarist Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, Variety has learned exclusively.

The production is currently shooting in Los Angeles and marks writer-director Nanea Miyata’s feature film debut. June Street Studios is the production company.

Jakle, who played Jessica Smith in the three “Pitch Perfect” movies, stars as a young woman who returns to her small hometown to rediscover music, family bonds, and the magic of the Christmas season. The feature includes five original songs co-written by Miyata and Justin Jones, and an additional song co-written with Richard Rudolph.

This week the five broadcast networks each unveiled their Fall 2018 TV schedules ahead of their upfront presentations, complete with new series orders and returning favorites.

The Tim Allen sitcom “Last Man Standing” has jumped ship from ABC to Fox, and while NBC salvaged “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” from Fox, fans will have to wait until midseason for that show’s sixth season return. CBS’s revival of “Murphy Brown” and “Magnum P.I.” hope to be an answer to the success of ABC’s “Roseanne” reboot, while the CW has a reboot of their own in the newly picked up series “Charmed.”

Some of the promising new shows include NBC’s comedy “I Feel Bad” getting the lead-in from “Will & Grace,” Lil Rel Howery’s Fox multi-cam sitcom “Rel” getting the lead-in from “Family Guy” on Sundays, and “The Kids Are All Right” scored a coveted lead-in from “Roseanne” over at ABC.

Social Star Lele Pons Will Host The Mexican Version Of ‘The Voice’

Lele Pons has landed a significant hosting gig. The social media star, who has more than 24 million followers on Instagram alone, will emcee the upcoming seventh season of La Voz Mexico, a localized version of the internationally-popular singing competition The Voice.

Pons, who is Venezuelan-American, will make her first appearance on La Voz Mexico on October 14, when the show's new season begins on the Televisa network. Previous hosts of the competition have included actor Mark Tacher and actress Jacqueline Bracamontes, the latter of whom has appeared on the past five seasons of La Voz Mexico.

The two-part “New Girl” series finale was up week-to-week in the overnight ratings and on par with what the Fox show has averaged in its final season.

Airing at 9 and 9:30 p.m., the two episodes averaged a 0.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.5 million viewers. That is up by 20% in the demo and approximately 16% in total viewers compared to the average of the two episodes that aired last week. As a whole, Season 7 of “New Girl” has averaged a 0.6 and 1.5 million viewers in Live+Same Day. In Live+7, the comedy series is averaging a 100% gain in the key demo and a 63% gain in total viewers.
