There are a lot of reviews dismissing this but I liked it. I think giving it one star is not fair.
It's been modernised to now and includes things like social media and current technology.
I suspect people are not liking that it is not told in a linear fashion like the book. Rather they start in the middle and have a series of flash backs to establish the story. Also they have tweaked the characters a bit and are a little different. If you are a king fan there is a nod to some of his other writings like the nail in Harolds room with rejection letters ( as described in "On Writing")
My only concern is if it is easy enough to follow if you are not familiar with the story.
It's a tough thing creating a series from a fan favourite book. You either have to make it exactly like the original or adapt it or walk the fine line of retaining the essence of the story. Either way you are not going to please everyone. I have read the book so many times that I like that it is a little different. I think if it was a 100% accurate adaptation it might not be as entertaining. After all we have the book already.
So far I like it .... it has been modified but the essence of the story is there and the characters so far represent the essence of the characters in the book.if they retain that it will be good.
I think it's well worth a look.
