Growing up as a kid in Australia in the 90s,Bananas in Pyjamas was one of the first programs you may of seen on TV. But when I heard on the ABC news that there was going to be a new Bananas in Pyjamas in CG (and you now by now whats wrong, Why the Hell is it in CG than in people in costumes, one word "To jump on the bandwagon" just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you have to.) I thought how lame is ABC to spoil a great show. When it debuted on ABC I watched it and thought how bad is this. I thought the animation that was produced in Singapore and was a lazy attempt by the ABC to produce its program in another country when they have the money and studios to produce it themselves.
Secondly produce a quality program using characters in costumes. It is set in Cuddles Town and not Cuddles Ave, and all your favorite characters are back with the most obnoxious voice overs and the Bananas sound like they have there throat scraped with Pineapple and they look creepy with there faces, Andy Pandy rip-off Cheeks and Donnie Osmond Dentures. The Teddies are not their normal selves apart from Rat in a Hat who is voiced by Shane McNamara who is the original voice. Couldn't you Shane had said NO To the ABC than make yourselves look bad in front of your former Original Bananas in Pyjamas Cast????!!!!????.
Additionally, there are new characters like Charlie the Chimp, Bernard the Dog and Tomasina some A Lady Kangaroo who looks like she had a brush with Chris Brown. Tomasina is voiced by Meaghan Davies the same person who did Megan McBean and Bubs in Tracey McBean and Cushion Kids. I don't care for these characters as I feel they are totally undeveloped.
I feel that there are two things wrong with the script: 1. It is now 12 minutes long not like the original 5 minute duration. They should keep it short and sweet unlike my incredibly long review :) :) 2. Half of the stories do not relate to Bananas in Pyjamas .....they lack the original feel too!
However, I do like the background as it is familiar....the original background was flat and very colorful but even then there's a promlems with the placing of things like there's a Tree root in the middle of the road, how would you get out of Cuddlestown. In other words Cuddlestown is HELL.
To sum up the new Bananas in Pyjamas, in my opinion, is a waste of television air time. To make It more painful The New Bananas in Pyjamas is having a Season 2 that just starrted on 13th of May 2013. I recommend the only why for it to stop is for young families should spend some time locating an original DVD, video or Youtube of the Bananas in Pyjamas as they will remember it fondly forever. And Low Rating for lower Rating for ABC 4 Kids/ABC2 of The New Bananas in Pyjamas. I hope that the ABC will learn not to temper with formulas that cannot be improved upon and to stop over importing children's shows as I want the glory days back!!!
Hooroo! I'm The Mulligrub Master, and I speak the truth about Australian TV :D
