Foreverland

The era of the snide twenty-something feels like it’s been around too long, with snarky smartasses littering indie films, alt music, and just about every other tweet. Yet Max Thieriot has a reason to play his character in Foreverland with youthful, sarcastic edge: The 21-year-old Will is living with cystic fibrosis and has just suffered the death of a buddy with the same condition. Feeling for years that his demise is imminent, Will faces life with a grim hipster wit, Thieriot’s evenhanded performance more reliable and believable than the dialogue he’s given by neophyte screenwriter Shawn Riopelle....

Interview With Max Thieriot On House At The End Of The Street

Max Thieriot stars in the new horror film House at the End of the Street, which arrived in theatres this weekend. The unnerving psychological thriller stars Jennifer Lawrence as Elissa, a young teenager who moves into a new home that’s next door to a house where a gruesome double murder took place.

Max plays Elissa’s neighbour, Ryan, who survived the murder that took his parent’s lives. The two meet and start to form a relationship but as they get closer, it turns out that all is not as it seems and when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Elissa learns that the town, and Ryan, may be harbouring a deadly secret.

Next Factor Q&A: 'House at the End of the Street' Star Max Thieriot

  • NextMovie
Max Thieriot is not even 24 years old but has already worked with notable directors like Doug Liman, Atom Egoyan, Wes Craven and Nick Cassavetes. Thieriot made his big-screen debut in 2004's "Catch That Kid" opposite Kristen Stewart, with whom he remains close friends. You might recognize him as the younger version of Hayden Christensen's character in "Jumper" and for roles in movies like the horror film "My Soul to Take" and the psychosexual drama "Chloe."

In the thriller "House at the End of the Street," Thieriot plays a young man, Ryan, who lives in said house where both of his parents were brutally murdered. This has rendered him an outcast in the small community, but that doesn’t seem to bother Elissa (Jennifer Lawrence), who's moved in down the street with her overprotective mother (Elisabeth Shue) and who feels connected to Ryan. Is he really a nice guy who

‘Foreverland’ is not just bad, but stereotypically so

Foreverland

Directed by Max McGuire

Written by Max McGuire and Shawn Riopelle

Canada, 2011

Listening to a Canadian movie related podcast recently (not Sound on Sight. Shocking, indeed), the hosts of the show agreed that the Canadian film industry lacks a certain panache, a certain individuality and, most importantly, the confidence required for it to stand proudly on its own two feet to impress local cinema goers and, it the best case scenarios, make some headway in the international markets. The lone exception, one that has lasted for so many years it might as well be considered a constant, is Québec’s output, but then again, that province has always done things a little differently than its anglophone compatriots. Save David Croneberg and perhaps Sarah Polley, the great Canadian English language filmmakers are far and few between. Sadly, Max Mcguire’s Foreverland only reinforces that stereotype and them some.

House At The End Of The Street Trailer

Jennifer Lawrence, House at the End of the Street Jennifer Lawrence stars in House at the End of the Street, Mark Tonderai’s horror / thriller to be released by Relativity Media on September 21. The video below makes House at the End of the Street’s house at the end of the street look more than a little like Psycho’s Bates Motel. Jennifer Lawrence has the Janet Leigh role (minus the shower scene and the all that stabbing), while Max Thieriot comes across as a rebooted version of Anthony Perkins‘ Norman Bates. Now, does Thieriot have a sister — instead of a mother — fixation? In addition to The Hunger Games‘ Lawrence (a Best Actress Oscar nominee for Debra Granik’s Winter’s Bone) and Foreverland / My Soul to Take’s Thieriot, House at the End of the Street also features Elisabeth Shue (a Best Actress nominee for Mike Figgis‘ 1995 drama Leaving Las Vegas,

Juliette Lewis Finds Blood Or Water

Scottish director Justin Molotnikov has rounded up the cast for his follow-up to 2009’s Crying with Laughter. He’s locked in Juliette Lewis, Stephen McCole, Kate Dickie, Gary Lewis and Greta Scacchi for modern noir Blood Or Water. There’s precious little out there about the plot right now, aside from one tiny nugget that talks about its noirish nature and a brief mention of “unwitting incest.” Which sounds almost like a BBFC caution phrase than anything else.Despite that, Lewis seems enthused to be taking part: “I am excited by Justin Molotnikov’s unconventional, completely organic approach to storytelling and filmmaking," she said in a statement picked up by The Hollywood Reporter. "He creates one of a kind, totally engrossing stories with characters that jump off the screen." Molotnikov will shoot early next year in Scotland.Lewis was last seen in Due Date, and has the likes of Hick,

Juliette Lewis Joins Justin Molotnikov’s Noir ‘Blood or Water’

  • The Film Stage
Justin Molotnikov has directed his fair share of television — particularly a series of several episodes on both Shoebox Zoo and High Times — but in 2009 he jumped into the medium of feature filmmaking with his debut, Crying with Laughter. I know next to nothing about the film, though I’ve since learned that it not only took home a Scotland BAFTA for Best First Film, but that it also caught the eye of the well-known American actress Juliette Lewis — enough of her eye, in fact, that she’s agreed to star in Molotnikov‘s follow-up feature, a contemporary noir titled Blood or Water. [The Hollywood Reporter]

“I am excited by Justin Molotnikov’s unconventional, completely organic approach to storytelling and filmmaking,” said Lewis about the up-and-coming Scottish director. “He creates one of a kind, totally engrossing stories with characters that jump off the screen.” Stephen McCole, Kate Dickie, Gary Lewis, and Greta Scacchi are
