Storyline

In 1970s suburbia, Maggie, who has just lost her virginity that day and her younger siblings, Christian, Janie and Sam spend the night telling each other stories in the attic. When their parents return home, it soon becomes apparent that the family dynamics are frayed, with the housewife mother Donna, clearly a heavy drinker and a lawyer father Martin, affectionate but distracted. Still, everything seems normal enough, with Martin even conducting an impromptu spelling bee during dinner. It isn't until the arrival of another couple, Clark and Nadia for a night of cards and drinks that things begin to unravel. While smoking secretly in the garden, Maggie catches her mother passionately kissing the family friend in the kitchen and the evening devolving into loud drunken arguments and a physical altercation. Quite Subtle About A Violent Family.
25 January 2013 | by nairtejasSee all my reviews

The whole situation is in a house where a two couples fool around and most of them aren't happy about what they did. And the children of one of the couples just dream, hallucinate about a feeble, imaginary story. Both narratives are simple and straight-forward.

Acting is okay, cast is good and the plot is slippery. It bores you midway because the purpose of creating a film about a family and their disconnections, fades away. But if you keep watching, a conclusion arrives and you start perceiving what went all the way to 90 minutes of slow screenplay.

For amateur cast, director and writers, I would dub it as a good venture. Try harder and keep it up!

I cannot say I enjoyed the movie but yeah it is 6/10. Don't bother for the DVD. It will be up in HBO sometime.

WATCH OUT FOR: nothing special to watch out for.

Language: Strong | Sex: Strong | Nudity: Very Strong | Alcohol & Smoking: Critically Strong | Violence: Strong
