Storyline

Rick and Shane drive 18 miles out far from Hershel's farm to seek a safe place to leave the outsider Randall, who has recovered from the injury to his leg. Rick stops the car at a crossroad and has a serious conversation with Shane about Lori and Carl. When they reach a county prison, they leave Randall with his hands and legs tied and a knife. While pleading for his life, Randall says he knows Maggie. Shane decides to kill him. Rick and Shane fight, and at one point Shane throws a big wrench at Rick that misses him but breaks a window in the building. A swarm of walkers crawl out and attack the humans. They trap Shane in a school bus, and though Rick at first wants to leave him to be killed. he gets the car and goes back to save him. Back at the farm, Beth wants to commit suicide but she is dissuaded by Lori and Maggie. When Andrea offers to keep an eye on Beth, she leaves her alone to reach a decision. Goofs

As Rick and Shane are driving away from the farm to drop off Randall, Shane sees a lone walker crossing the field. As Shane and Rick are driving Randall back to the farm, Shane sees the same Walker walking across the field, but he is on the other side of the road, so either the Walker has crossed the road and is walking back or it should be a different Walker. I Know Who I Want To Die Next

Plot In A Paragraph: Rick and Shane drive eighteen miles away from the farm (The eighteen miles of the episode title) so then can drop Randall far enough away from the farm. Whilst there, they have a violent confrontation which results in them getting swarmed with Walkers. Whilst back at the farm Lori and Maggie try and cope with a suicidal Beth.

The episode starts with a great scene between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Shane (Jon Bernthall) as Rick lays down the law to him about his family. Their fight scene later in the episode is very well choreographed and is well acted.

This is really the first time Emily Kinney has anything to do as Beth. And she proves to be a very talented young actress.

Once again Andrea is very annoying as is Lori played by Sarah Wayne Callies. When the had a scene together I was in agony and was itching to run it forward. I was dying to slap Andrea. What an idiot. Lori and Andrea can both be Walker fodder for me!! I dislike them both immensely.
