On Monday April 22, 20th Century Studios’ all-new action-adventure spectacle, Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, made a trip to Venice Beach to get some sun, catch some waves and promote the film to onlookers lucky enough to be there. The apes on horseback was a clever idea and looked very reminiscent of the original 1968 film Planet Of The Apes.
The film opens in movie theaters globally on May 10, 2024, and will be available in IMAX®, Dolby Cinema®, 4Dx, and premium screens everywhere. Be among the first to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on the big screen at the early access screening on May 8th.

Marvel Studios has a knack for accidentally spoiling their own movies. Either by sending Tom Holland for interviews or by releasing merchandise of an upcoming film, Marvel Studios has oftentimes spilled their own secrets.
Well, the latter seems to be the case once again as the merchandise for Captain America: Brave New World has allegedly leaked. Confirmed what people feared was true, Rosa Salazar’s villainous appearance as Diamondback has most probably been confirmed!

Will Poulter’s arrival in the Hollywood circuit was a nondescript event followed by a splattering of teenage comic roles and anti-heroic sidekicks. It wasn’t until his arc in Jeremy Allen White’s series The Bear that the audience began seeing the actor as a true male lead, worthy not only of the spot at the top but looking every inch deserving of it. Quiet, focused, centered, and gravitational — something about Poulter’s role as Chef Luca drew the audience in like moths to a flame. The attraction to his character didn’t lie in his composed charm but in the unnamed, unspecified weight that he seemed to silently shoulder in his self-isolated corner of the world.
The Bear [Credit: FX]Now that Poulter is reportedly making a comeback in The Bear Season 3, the urgency attached to the series has grown threefold. The weight of his talent can then be...

Exclusive: Warner Bros Pictures has acquired Shannon Messenger’s bestselling book series Keeper of the Lost Cities, with Emma Watts set to produce.
Messenger’s series focuses on Sophie, a telepathic girl who must figure out why she is the key to a world that exists side by side with our own. She must do this before dark forces find the answer first, putting both worlds in jeopardy.
With nine installments and over 7 million copies sold worldwide so far, Messenger continues Sophie’s saga with the next installment, Unraveled, which will be published on November 12, 2024.
While the former production topper at Fox and Paramount has been in the mix for several of the big jobs in the past few years, it is easy to see how Watts can flourish in the role of producer of a literary property with franchise potential for Warner Bros. As an executive, she has shown a great eye for material,...

It’s been seven years since the last Planet of the Apes film. When the series was rebooted under the vision of Matt Reeves, it was a highly praised trilogy that expanded on the original concept and showcased how to make a compelling blockbuster. Since War of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves has moved on to The Batman universe. Stepping behind the camera is Wes Ball, a filmmaker largely known for his Maze Runner adaptations. Here’s the official synopsis of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: Several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are

With Dune: Part Two and Civil War in theaters, it’s already been a great year for sci-fi, and that doesn’t even count goofball flicks like Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, or any other movies with the word “empire” in the title. Sure, it’s not all perfect. Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, has been pulled from the release schedule and there’s no way that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release this year. But overall, 2024 has been a strong start for sci-fi movies.
Even better, 2024 isn’t even halfway done. Per tradition, Den of Geek has put together a list of the big sci-fi movies heading your way for the rest of the year. You maniacs! You brought the planet of the apes to CinemaCon 2024! Humanity has a lot of making up to do after ushering in the fall of civilization and our replacement at the top of the food chain by intelligent simians, so 20th Century Studios is doing all that it can to make things right by bringing the next installment of the popular sci-fi franchise to the annual convention aimed towards theater owners. Luckily, /Film's very own Ryan Scott is in attendance at the event, covering all the major happenings as major studios descend upon the bright lights of Las Vegas. CinemaCon has traditionally served as ground zero for exclusive first looks, buzzy footage descriptions, and all sorts of other marketing hype for the biggest and most anticipated movies on the calendar. This year is certainly no exception.

Disney premiered 13 action-packed minutes of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” at CinemaCon, ginning up excitement for its reboot of the science-fiction franchise.
Set generations after the events of 2017’s “War for the Planet of the Apes,” the movie follows a young chimp named Noa (biblical allusions clearly intended) as he embarks on an epic journey after his village is torched by a band of gorillas (we think — we’re no primatologists here). It also finds Noa (played by “It” and “To Leslie” star Owen Teague) scaling the rocky face of a cliff on the prowl for eagle eggs. He’s accompanied by two, less daring and much older members of his clan. Things don’t go entirely according to plan, with Noa nearly falling hundreds of feet to the ground before after the angry bird returns to his home. Vertigo sufferers be warned.

“Deliver Me From Nowhere,” the upcoming film about the making of Bruce Springsteen’s landmark 1982 “Nebraska” album, has landed at 20th Century Studios.
“The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White is in talks to star as the legendary rocker. Scott Cooper will write and direct the film, which is based on Warren Zane’s 2023 book “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.”
“Nebraska,” the follow-up to Springsteen’s hugely successful album “The River,” was widely expected to be a rock album with the E Street Band. Instead, it was a stark solo album made on a 4-track recorder. The book and the film tell the story of Springsteen’s artistic journey in the creation of the record, which is regarded as a watershed in his musical odyssey.
The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (“The Maze Runner” trilogy) and Eric Robinson, Cooper, Zanes and Scott Stuber are producers.

The long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot from director Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home) is still without a release date, but we’ve learned from The Hollywood Reporter this afternoon that the film will Not be releasing in theaters at all.
As we suspected, Salem’s Lot will be a straight-to-streaming release for the Max streaming service. THR notes, “No date was given, but sources believe a fourth quarter release is likely.”
Originally set for theatrical release on September 9, 2022, the new Stephen King adaptation was recently bumped to April 21, 2023, before getting ejected from the theatrical slate.
For what it’s worth, Stephen King has recently tweeted praise for the film.
King wrote earlier this year, “I’ve seen the new Salem’S Lot and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything.

“Abba Zabba, you my only friend!” Imagine they made a Half Baked 2. That sounds like a slam dunk, right? After all, the original didn’t set the box office on fire, but it’s presumably made a mint on home video. Well, it looks like Universal finally pulled the trigger on a Half Baked 2, but of the original cast, the only person to return is Rachel True, who played the love interest, Mary Jane. Yes folks, it happened, and the sequel, Half Baked: Totally High, is going straight to Blu-ray, with an April 16th release date.
All this begs the question, why, twenty-five years later, make a Half Baked sequel without either Dave Chappelle, an infinitely bigger star now than he was in 1998, and Jim Breuer? Chappelle, I kind of get – the man is busy and would probably cost millions and millions to get, but Jim Breuer? Could...

Originally set for theatrical release on September 9, 2022, the new Stephen King adaptation was recently bumped to April 21, 2023, before getting ejected from the theatrical slate altogether. As of now, Salem’s Lot still doesn’t have a release date.
King tweets tonight, “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new Salem’S Lot and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the fucking things.”
The concern from horror fans is that Dauberman’s Salem’s Lot will be trashed completely by Warner Bros., a...

You can’t keep a good ape down.
While 2017’s “War of the Planet of the Apes” was a fitting conclusion to the latest trilogy in the (second) rebooted “Planet of the Apes” franchise, more monkey business is headed our way. The first full trailer for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” dropped during the Super Bowl on Sunday, and showed that the battle on the gridiron was no match for a big Hollywood spectacle.
The new film, out on May 10, is directed by Wes Ball (“The Maze Runner”) and stars motion-capture ape renderings performed by Owen Teague (Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s son in “You Hurt My Feelings”), Kevin Durand, and William H. Macy. The part of the doe-eyed human female (wearing the requisite rags) is played by “The Witcher” star Freya Allan.

Apes might rule the world in Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, but if the new trailer (teased during this year's Super Bowl game) is any indication, there is still a fragment of hope for humanity. Check out the new look at the film…
With The Maze Runner's Wes Ball now in the director's chair, Kingdom is set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As new tyrannical ape leader Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand) builds his empire, one young ape (Owen Teague's Noa) undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Jason Reitman is staying mighty busy these days. Less than 24 hours after the release of the latest trailer for "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire," four major casting announcements were made for his next project, "SNL 1975." The film will attempt to tell the true story of what went on behind the scenes before the broadcast premiere of "Saturday Night Live" on NBC, highlighting the real-time bedlam with some of the most legendary names in American comedy. Reitman co-wrote the script with his "Ghostbusters" collaborator Gil Kenan and is basing the story on the firsthand accounts of those who were there. Lest we forget, Reitman's father is the legendary Ivan Reitman, so these comedy titans were the friends and colleagues of the family. If anyone can get serious insight, it's Reitman.

Just four years after the movie hit theaters, Netflix has turned Guy Ritchie's "The Gentlemen" into a TV show. The above teaser trailer for the series offers proof of that, introducing a drug empire, a cast of criminals, and some vintage Ritchie shenanigans.
The teaser admittedly doesn't dive too deeply into the story, but it does do a great job of capturing the vibe. It's all set to the tune of "Time of the Season" by The Zombies, with some welcome narration by Giancarlo Esposito, of "Breaking Bad" and "The Boys" fame. Esposito is just one part of a pretty well-stacked ensemble led by Theo James ("The White Lotus"). Blood, boxing, and quips, this has all of the hallmarks of a classic Guy Ritchie production. It certainly has a similar feeling to the 2020 movie, but it also feels designed to satisfy "Snatch" fans. The official synopsis for the show...

Throwing a bunch of teenagers into some sort of Gladiator-style arena is the pinnacle of young adult dystopian fiction, executed to perfection in franchises like "The Hunger Games." While "The Maze Runner" films also follow the same principle, the worldbuilding here is markedly different, woven deftly with interesting characters and plot developments that make it such an intriguing premise. With three movies that map the trajectory of such a grim world and its inhabitants, "The Maze Runner" emerges as a staple for those who wish to immerse themselves in its labyrinthine action and fantastical setting.
As "The Maze Runner" films are rather overlooked, at least in comparison to blockbuster offerings within the same genre, it can be a bit confusing for casual fans to denote its viewing order. The trilogy, which began with ‘The Maze Runner’ in 2014 and culminated with ‘The Death Cure’ in 2018, has been a box office success. Despite mixed critical reception, with Rotten Tomato scores hovering around the mid-60s and Metacritic scores in the mid-50s, the films have resonated with audiences globally. As soon as news hit in November that Nintendo and Sony Pictures were joining forces for a live-action movie based on the The Legend of Zelda video games, many fans started to predict the the studios had the next “Lord of the Rings” on their hands. Not so fast. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the film’s director Wes Ball said he’s long envisioned a Zelda movie not as a “Rings”-like epic but as a live-action Hayao Miyazaki movie.
Ball said his vision for the live-action Zelda movie is “this awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn’t like ‘Lord of the Rings,’ it’s its own thing. I’ve always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that.”
“It’s going to be awesome,” Ball continued. “My whole life has led up to this moment.

Since the official word broke that Nintendo is pursuing a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, my head has been spinning with possibilities of what the film will look like. Hyrule is undoubtedly one of the most lush, intricate, and enigmatic kingdoms under Nintendo’s imaginative umbrella. When Maze Runner director Wes Ball approaches Link and Zelda’s world, he must pull out all the stops. Thankfully, it sounds like Ball is off to a great start. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Ball said he wants The Legend of Zelda to feel like a live-action Miyazaki film, which is music to my ears. Hayao Miyazaki is the legend who co-founded Studio Ghibli and is often called the “Godfather of Anime.” Imagine Link, Zelda, and Ganon inhabiting a world as fantasy-driven as Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro or Howl’s Moving Castle. The possibilities are endless.

Young adult literary franchises have a rough track record on cinema screens. Sure, “Harry Potter” is a (now tarnished) cultural touchstone. But the “Twilight” books became famously bad (albeit iconic) films, and that’s to say nothing of the absolute graveyard of sputtered, failed, or forgotten YA adaptations that Hollywood populated during the late ’00s and early 2010s. Did you know that they made three “Maze Runner” films? That the “Divergent” films were supposed to end with a TV show that never happened? That two “Percy Jackson” movies were made before the upcoming TV show? That “Eragon” even exists? If you do remember, you’ve likely been trying hard to forget.
Which makes the general high quality of “The Hunger Games” films all the more impressive. It helps that the Lionsgate franchise has always had better material to mine than most of the other dystopian disasters that attempted to capitalize on its runaway success.
