    Storyline

    Edit
This TV movie is about the life of King Charlemagne who was King of the Franks from 768 to his death in 814. More specifically, the movie focuses on Charlemagne's relationship with Prince Roland, his most famous military leader. The movie covers many aspects of Charlemagne's life such as his inability to write, his admiration for learning, and the Saxon wars. Charlemagne conquered Saxonia and proceeded to convert the conquered to Christianity, sometimes using force, such as ordering the beheading of Saxons who had refused to convert to Christianity. In the movie, we see Charlemagne practicing the formation of letters (alphabet) in his free time, mostly in secret at night, with the help of Prince Roland —e3835
