The Triangle of Death is not the normal run-of-the-mill Hollywood movie, nor is it made up of re-enactments. Instead, it is a carefully compiled and edited film made up of actual footage. All the Marines in this film were actually engaged in doing their jobs while this footage was shot. The battle scenes are real, the traumas are real, the men are real. When these Marines were deployed to Iraq, the first presidential election following the downfall of Saddam Hussein had not yet taken place. The lawlessness in this area of Iraq was so pervasive that it was not believed that the residents would be able to safely participate in the election. Through the exhaustive efforts of these Marines, many of the terrorists who were threatening the local Iraqis were found and arrested, enabling law-abiding Iraqis to exercise their right to vote for the first time.
