Jeff Bridges Brings Guidance in First Trailer for Marc Webb’s ‘Only Living Boy in New York’

When you aren’t carrying the weight of a superhero tentpole franchise on your shoulders, it turns out you can get a whole lot more done. Following the Chris Evans-led Gifted in April, Marc Webb‘s second film of 2017 will be arriving just a few months after in August with The Only Living Boy in New York. Ahead of the release Amazon Studios have now unveiled the first trailer.

Scripted by Allan Loeb (who is on some sort of unfortunate streak with The Space Between Us, Collateral Beauty, So Undercover, Here Comes the Boom, Rock of Ages, and, well, the list goes on…), hopefully this one is an uptick for the writer, even if the trailer sells a fairly chintzy feel-good dramedy — one that seems to be skipping a festival debut. Starring Kate Beckinsale, Pierce Brosnan, Kiersey Clemons, Cynthia Nixon, Callum Turner, and Jeff Bridges, check out the trailer below.

Will Smith, Not Johnny Depp, Replaces Hugh Jackman in 'Collateral Beauty'

Recent tabloids suggest things are not going swimmingly for Will Smith at home, so constant work may benefit the former Fresh Prince's good spirits. He's got Concussion coming this Christmas, Suicide Squad still in production and now, in just a matter of months, he's got the lead role in Collateral Beauty, the highly buzzed-about Me & Earl & the Dying Girl follow-up for director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, to keep his mind preoccupied at the moment. Smith takes the role from fellow superhero star Hugh Jackman, who departed last month from the role he received in June due to his final Wolverine commitments in James Mangold's 2017 sequel. Rumors persisted on Johnny Depp taking the turn, as part of his dramatic comeback expected to kickstart with this fall's Black Mass and, while the filmmakers did court the actor at some point in time, he either turned it down or Smith edged him out. Goodbye Hugh Jackman, Hello Johnny Depp (Maybe) For 'Collateral Beauty'

Although Hugh Jackman will soon say goodbye to Wolverine with X-Men: Apocalypse and James Mangold's upcoming Wolverine sequel, in the process of putting away the claws the actor has to give away some other roles in the meantime. That would include the lead role in Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's much talked-about Me & Earl & the Dying Girl follow-up Collateral Beauty, also starring Rooney Mara. It was only last month when the Aussie actor signed onto the project, but time commitments apparently won't let Jackman play the role when production begins this fall. Producers don't seem too discouraged, though, for they've taken their efforts towards bagging another big-name star: Johnny Depp. Even if the Mortdecai's star seems to be fading these days, Depp does have the buzzed Black Mass coming up, in addition to another Pirates of the Caribbean sequel set for release in two years time. So don't rule out a comeback,

‘Barely Lethal’ Review

Stars: Hailee Steinfeld, Dove Cameron, Thomas Mann, Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Alba, Sophie Turner, Jaime King, Dan Fogler, Rachael Harris, Alexandra Krosney, Gabriel Basso, Toby Sebastian, Steve-o, Rob Huebel | Written by John D’Arco | Directed by Kyle Newman

Sometimes it pays to have friends with cable TV in the States. Otherwise I’m sure I’d be waiting for ages to see this, the latest film from Kyle Newman, director of the love letter to Star Wars and its fans – the awesome Fanboys. Barely Lethal is one of those films that will, sadly, probably fly under the radar of many, especially here in the UK where Newman’s aforementioned film was treated shabbily, suffering a few delays before eventually being dumped on DVD and Blu-ray, after a screening at Frightfest of all places! Honestly, I am a Huge fan of Fanboys (morse so than the Star Wars films themselves) so

San Andreas 3D Writer Allan Loeb Will Pen Bob: The Musical for Disney

San Andreas 3D Writer Allan Loeb Will Pen Bob: The Musical for Disney
Disney has hired Allan Loeb (Rock of Ages) to write their long-gestating Bob: The Musical, which has been in development at the studio since 2004.

The story follows an ordinary man named Bob, who suffers a blow to the head that causes him to hear the inner songs of everyone he meets, essentially turning his life into a musical, although he is not pleased with this new gift.

We first reported on the project in July 2004, when Mark Waters was attached to direct from a script by Mike Binder. The project was stalled until December 2010, when Phil Lord and Chris Miller were in talks to direct. Matthew Fogel signed on to rewrite the script in December 2011, but that was the last we heard about the musical, until now.

Chris Bender, J.C. Spink, Jake Weiner, Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing, with Frozen's Robert Lopez and Kristin Anderson-Lopez writing the music and lyrics.

Jeremy Piven Joins Tom Cruise In ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’

Since wrapping on HBO’s Entourage in 2011, Jeremy ‘Ari Gold’ Piven has been pretty quiet aside from ITV drama, Mr Selfridge. 2012 saw him star opposite Miley Cyrus in So Undercover and voicing the hilarious Black Bellamy in The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists!, but 2014 looks to be far more exciting.

Alongside the constant Entourage movie rumours and his role in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Piven has landed himself the role of Colonel Walter Marx in Doug Liman’s Edge Of Tomorrow during its UK reshoots. Previously known as All You Need Is Kill, Edge Of Tomorrow sees Tom Cruise battling his own personal Groundhog Day – but with far more alien activity.

Set for release in June 2014, Edge Of Tomorrow also stars Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong and Tony Way.

Now, altogether everybody – “Lloyyyyddd!!”

Red 2 review

Review Duncan Bowles

A talented, eclectic cast can't make up for an uneven tone and derivative action, Duncan writes, in his review of Red 2...

In our house, we operate a 20 minute movie rule. This applies to anyone subjected to a film they haven’t seen before, and allows that person the chance to veto any movie that’s been picked for viewing within the first 20 minutes. Movies that have recently fallen victim to the rule have included such controversial decisions as A Dangerous Method (ruled out by my wife’s allergy to Kiera Knightley, exacerbated in Method by her gurning and ‘acting’ crazy) and Zero Dark Thirty (invoked by me in a tired and hung-over state, as I didn’t have a clue what anyone was talking about and didn’t want to spend my Sunday afternoon watching waterboarding).

Strangely enough, the Miley Cyrus Dtv opus So Undercover survived unscathed,

Mark Kermode's DVD round-up

Silver Linings Playbook; The Man with the Iron Fists; So Undercover

The prospect of an off-kilter romcom directed by troublesome auteur David O Russell and dealing variously with bereavement, mental illness, marital breakdown and competitive dancing may set alarm bells ringing. Certainly there were those who saw Russell's Oscar-feted latest as a shamelessly manipulative bid for awards glory, a claim which appeared to be backed up when the best picture nods started rolling in. Yet despite suspicions to the contrary, Silver Linings Playbook (2012, Entertainment, 15) is neither cynical nor muddle-headed – indeed, you would have to be pretty cynically muddle-headed to see it as such. It's an unexpectedly winning tragicomedy about ordinary people trapped in tales of everyday madness, although that description does the movie the injustice of making it sound terribly po-faced, which it most definitely is not.

Having earned a deserved Oscar nomination for her breakthrough role in Winter's Bone,
