  • Variety
Geraldine Gonard’s Inside Content has picked up international sales rights to Spaniard Alejo Moreno’s thriller “Diana,” an entry in the First Fiction Films competition at the 42nd Montreal World Film Festival.

Written, directed and produced by Moreno, “Diana” is an intimate and minimalist film that combines a extreme love story with a financial fraud, against the backdrop of the recent economic crisis.

“Diana” unspools in a Madrid apartment, Sofía, a deluxe call girl played by Spanish actress Ana Rujas (“Toxic Love”) receives a new client, a successful businessman called Jano -who introduces himself as Hugo. He glimpses the name Diana tattooed on her leg.

Sofia, as she herself explains in an interview for a TV program, is “social waste, a victim who didn’t know how to survive economic crisis.” Jano is taken to be a symbol, at least at the film’s get go, of an entrepreneur of the future,

New Trailer and Poster for Royal Biopic 'Diana' Starring Naomi Watts

Before the biopic Diana hits theaters here in the United States, it will debut overseas, but the word from the title princess' homeland hasn't been all that favorable. Some reviews have called the film "terrible and tacky" and "a right royal mess." We're hoping that maybe the lead performance from Naomi Watts at least gives audiences something to latch onto. While we're waiting for the release, here's a new theatrical trailer for the film from Downfall director Oliver Hirschbiegel. We'll admit the film looks a little formualic and melodramatic, but when it comes to the royal family, people just eat this kind of story up. Watch it below! Here's the new trailer for Oliver Hirschbiegel's Diana, originally from Yahoo: And here's the first poster for the film courtesy of Entertainment Weekly: Diana, originally Caught in Flight, is directed by German filmmaker Oliver Hirschbiegel (The Experiment, Downfall, The Invasion) described

Naveen Andrews preferred 'Caught In Flight' to 'Diana'
Los Angeles, Sep 8: Actor Naveen Andrews thinks "Caught In Flight", the original title for new biopic "Diana", was a more fitting name for the movie.

The 44-year-old portrays Hasnat Khan, the former lover of the late Princess Diana, in the biopic which focuses on the last two years of the royal's life before her tragic death in August 1997, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

When quizzed on why the title was changed, Andews told Bang Showbiz: "I preferred 'Caught In Flight'! I personally don't know why it was changed. I always thought in the way the film was structured - it's about the last two years of her life - the original.

Watch: New International Trailer for 'Diana,' Starring Naomi Watts as Princess "of People's Hearts"

Watch: New International Trailer for 'Diana,' Starring Naomi Watts as Princess
A new international trailer for Oliver Hirschbiegel's "Diana," starring Naomi Watts as Princess Diana, has landed. The Japanese trailer gives us more of a sense of Watts' earnest performance (she's also a ringer for the Princess); the previous trailer was without dialogue. The jury is out on whether new distrib Entertainment One, which has more of an established presence in Canada than it does stateside, can make a significant Oscar push for the film (specifically a Best Actress play for Watts). She is the one who made the decision to go with them based on their pitch at Cannes. "Diana" is premiering at the Zurich Film Festival, but no word on it showing up at any of the major fall fests (Toronto, Venice, Nyff) that usually feed the Oscar beast. Especially with such a long road through the awards season, there seems to be a growing resistance to doing

New Diana Trailer: Naomi Watts Shines as the People's Princess
We've already seen the pics, as well as a brief teaser, of Naomi Watts' amazing transformation into Princess Diana for the upcoming biopic Diana. Now comes the film's first full international trailer, which essentially proves she was the right actress to play the part of the People's Princess. But it's also quite the showcase for Watts' enormous talents. Then again, when are any of her films not? In this case, however, the two-time Oscar nominee appears to have outdone herself. It's a...

Ghost of Diana returns in biopic starring Naomi Watts

Ghost of Diana returns in biopic starring Naomi Watts
So far all we have seen is a one-minute trailer of film detailing Princess Diana's final years, but the awestruck tone is obvious

She is back. The ghost of Diana Spencer is back. A one-minute trailer has been released online, promoting a biopic directed by Olivier Hirschbiegel, about the last years of Princess Diana's life before the fatal 1997 car crash in Paris. It avowedly concentrates on her landmine removal charity work, her painful affair with surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan, and of course her persecution by the paparazzi. Naomi Watts stars as Diana, with her blonde hair fiercely styled and what looks like a nasal prosthesis in place.

It is impossible to tell what a film is really going to be like from a trailer, but here the awestruck tone is obvious. This account of Diana's final lonely years is unlikely to be subversive or controversial – although it is

Naomi Watts Joins 'St. Vincent De Van Nuys' With Bill Murray, Chris O’Dowd & Melissa McCarthy

Naomi Watts Joins 'St. Vincent De Van Nuys' With Bill Murray, Chris O’Dowd & Melissa McCarthy
After earning a second Oscar nomination for her tortured performance in “The Impossible,” and having recently finished production on her portrayal of Princess Diana (“Diana”), Naomi Watts could certainly use a change of pace from such heavy-handed material. In fact, looking at her filmography from the past few years, you’ll be hard-pressed to find many comedies in the bunch. There’s Woody Allen’s “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” and of course her riotous turn in David O. Russell's "I Heart Huckabees." Now she's adding another laffer to the bunch. And we don't see how anyone could pass up the opportunity to star alongside Bill Murray, Chris O’Dowd and Melissa McCarthy... The project is “St. Vincent de Van Nuys,” a Black List dramedy from Ted Melfi, which is about a 12-year-old boy who moves in next door to a misanthropic aging retiree (Bill Murray) whose life mainly consists of gambling,
