Warner Bros. announces San Diego Comic-Con DC TV panels and more

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films’ big Hall H presentation isn’t the only highlight of next month’s San Diego Comic-Con International for DC fans, as WB TV has announced that it is bringing a host of DC television shows and more to this year’s convention.

Announced as holding panels next month are Arrow, Black Lightning, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Krypton, in addition to the animated projects DC Super Hero Girls and Young Justice: Outsiders. Gotham will also have a presence, although perhaps surprisingly there’s nothing listed for the live-action Teen Titans series Titans, or other upcoming DC Universe properties such as Harley Quinn and Swamp Thing. Still, it would be a surprise if they don’t at least get a mention over the weekend of festivities.

First look at Lauren Faust’s redesigned DC Super Hero Girls animated series

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment have shared a piece of promo art for Cartoon Network’s upcoming DC Super Hero Girls animated TV series which gives us our first look at the new character designs for Zatanna, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz), Bumblebee and Batgirl courtesy of Lauren Faust, creator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; check it out here…

The world may know them as Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl, but not-so-typical teenagers Diana, Kara and Barbara, alongside their Super Hero friends have much more to deal with than just protecting the citizens of Metropolis from some of the most sinister school-aged Super-Villains of the DC Universe. After all, being teens is tough enough, what with school, friends, family and the chaos that comes with managing a social life. But add super powers and a secret identity to the mix, and things can get a lot more complicated.

Rick and Morty Make a Cameo as Ponies in Episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

Rick and Morty have gone on some of the wildest and craziest interdimensional adventures, and it looks like one of those untold stories has taken them to the Land of Ponies as ponies themselves!

As you can see in the screenshot above thanks to io9, pony versions of Rick and Morty made a very brief cameo in the latest episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. It would have been hilarious to follow their story! Here's a description of the scene that leads up to the two characters showing up:

About halfway through watching 'Grannies Gone Wild,' we see Rainbow Dash rushing to get in line for this super-awesome roller coaster that she just has to try (because ponies be ponies).

It's at that point that we see Rick and Morty waiting in line. Morty is looking very worried, while Rick just looks absolutely determined. It's funny that

Critics Pick the Best Friendships on TV — IndieWire Survey

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: What’s the best depiction of friendship you’ve seen on TV? (Past and current shows are fair game).

Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com

Good friends are hard to find, especially on television where character relationships require non-stop drama to keep things interesting. But you know what’s more interesting? TV friends who don’t have much drama at all! That immediately rules out the so-called “friends” from college on Netflix’s “Friends from College,” and though the “Friends” friends were pretty good friends, I’ll look at a different NBC comedy for my favorite friendship: “Community’s” Troy and Abed. These two dorks overcame huge

My Little Pony: The Movie review

Here's our review of the My Little Pony movie, that's now in UK cinemas...

To describe My Little Pony: The Movie as anything other than a sensory overload would be a severe injustice. Combining every single colour humanly possible, it is an incessant upbeat bravado that would make Disney feel uneasy. My Little Pony: The Movie is a discombobulating 89-minute feature that leads to a near fatal saccharine overdose once its musically vibrant credits finally roll. Currently in their 'fourth generation', Hasbro’s candy coloured ponies have trotted into cinemas, just in time to save youngsters from half term boredom.

The colourful equestrian franchise has radically evolved since its initial release way back in the 1980s. Fast forward nearly 40 years and this worldwide phenomenon has spawned countless arrays of merchandise, several TV incarnations and now a big-shot feature film. Upon its hugely successful revival in 2010 the magical ponyverse has won

‘My Little Pony: The Movie’ Review: Friendship Is Magic, and So Is This Equestrian Adventure

‘My Little Pony: The Movie’ Review: Friendship Is Magic, and So Is This Equestrian Adventure
Are the kids in your life too young to see “Wonder Woman”? No worries: now they’ve got Twilight Sparkle Princess Pony, instead. Yes, “My Little Pony: The Movie,” like its television predecessor, is all dressed up in bubbles and cupcakes and rainbows. But it’s so jam-packed with rousing girl power, it passes the Bechdel Test with (literally) flying colors. As fans already know, the animated TV series, “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic,” is no mere toy-seller. Granted, this movie may send the ponies back to the top of holiday wish lists, but at least these are characters worth wishing for,

Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldana, Liev Schreiber and Michael Peña lend their voices to this month’s animated family film My Little Pony: The Movie and have their names scrawled across the film’s poster and trailer. However, when it comes to voiceover work the real star of the film is Tara Strong, a name you’ll be hard-pressed to find in big type on those promo materials.

The 44-year-old Toronto native provides the voice of Princess Twilight Sparkle, the unicorn pony heroine of My Little Pony: The Movie, one of Strong’s 484 film/TV/videogame credits. Name a popular animated series of the last 30 years and Strong has most likely been involved; she’s voiced a Care Bear,

‘Twin Peaks’ Just Explained How Dougie Came Into This World

‘Twin Peaks’ Just Explained How Dougie Came Into This World
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Twin Peaks: The Return” Episode 14, “Part 14.”]

Twin Peaks” dropped a major hint on Sunday about the origins of Dougie, the man whom Evil Cooper/Mr. C created as a decoy, and whose life Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) took over upon his return to the real world.

While it seemed apparent that Evil Cooper made the fake version of himself to act as a replacement who would be called back to the Black Lodge in his place, it wasn’t clear what exactly Dougie was or how he came to be. A scene in “Part 14” between Albert (Miguel Ferrer) and Tammy (Chrysta Bell) sheds light on the man who was Dougie.

My Little Pony: The Movie gets an imaginative first trailer

Ponyville is under attack, and it’s up to the Mane 6 to save the day in the first trailer for My Little Pony: The Movie. Witness the color explosion down below…

While the movie probably won’t win over any non-fans of the show on which it’s based, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, it certainly looks like it will give fans more of what they’ve come to love about the long-running children’s program: vibrant visuals, optimistic messages and a strong focus on friendship. Additionally, it’s not worth nothing that My Little Pony: The Movie will stick to its 2D roots instead of opting for the now-standard 3D animation of most major animated studio films.

This latest offering isn’t the ponies’ first trip to the big screen, as Hasbro teamed up with De Laurentiis Entertainment Group in 1986 to put out a film of the same name,

Below, IndieWire spotlights some of the most important and relevant series of the binge TV era, with series that excites not in spite of the fact that it’s animated, but because of it.
