Storyline

A Jewish merchant finds love during the Nazi's reign of terror. As his son prepares to ship off to the Vietnam war, Leo Brunn, a German Jew, tells him how he survived the Holocaust thirty years earlier. Instead of the horrors of the camps, Leo, through flashbacks, relates a story about a mysterious Polish woman who came to him with an unexpected request that put both their lives in jeopardy. The story, held in secret by Leo for decades, gave him the strength to survive. Hoping it will do the same for his son, Leo passes it on to him on the last night they will ever see each other.
