Sex & Nudity

  • There are two scenes of men kissing, and there are scenes at gay clubs. But very mild and timid.
  • A couple is seen sleeping on a couch together covered with blankets. No nudity.
  • A man leads another group of men dressed in leather into another man's house. It's implied they are planning on having an orgy; however, nothing happens, as the main character walks out on them moments later.
  • In one scene, a couple are together in bed. He lies on her before she tells him that she has to go. She walks away with her clothes on. No nudity.
  • Sexual remarks about the protagonist, Freddie Mercury.
  • Freddie Mercury is bisexual, but there is no sex involving the main character. Some people joke about him.
  • Freddie walks into a gay club. No nudity.
  • Freddie on stage wears costumes that are very tight.
  • A brief mention of "necrophilia".

Violence & Gore

  • When the band makes fun of Roger Taylor, he abruptly throws dishes and slams the table. This is only heard. He then threatens to hit Brian May with the coffee pot but John Deacon stops him.
  • Freddie coughs out a little blood onto a napkin.
  • The band members occasionally argue and get into minor fights, but nothing brutal occurs.

Profanity

  • One use of the F-word, some other profanity used one or two times like prick, twat, damn, asshole and bloody. "Shit" is used a few times, as well as "bullshit."
  • The racial slur "Paki" is used at least twice in dialogue.
  • "Fag" is used once.
  • The British insult "wanker" is used once.
  • Someone is called "a treacherous piss flap."
  • The middle finger can be seen briefly in an overhead shot of a crowd.
  • 1 use of fuck, several uses of shit, fag, crap, bitch, piss, ass, and a lot of name calling.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Alcohol is very common in various scenes.
  • There is a scene where traces of cocaine can be seen on a table with bottles of alcohol.
  • Freddie is seen smoking countless times throughout the film, along with others.
  • Freddie Mercury was addicted to cocaine; sometimes, he is seen snorting it.
  • Freddie is scene drinking beer, and getting high and drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Two scenes show extremely sick men visibly dying of AIDS.
  • While Freddie coughs, small traces of blood can be seen on his handkerchief.
  • Queen holds a press conference for their upcoming album "Hot Space," but instead of the press asking questions about the new album, they ask about Freddie's sexuality for a prolonged period. Freddie denies all rumors about him being gay, but he is shown in emotional distress.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When Freddie tells the band that he is HIV positive, it is quite an emotional scene, as we see how it affects the band, as they cry and embrace him.
