Storyline

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day. Written by Twentieth Century Fox

Trivia

All four members of Queen are portrayed as singers in the movie, for example when they are recording the vocals for the song 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. In real life, bass guitarist John Deacon (portrayed by Joseph Mazzello in the movie) did not sing on any of Queen's albums. Presumably, the film makers decided it created a more pleasing image to have all four members sing. This echoes the real-life music clip for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in which Deacon also appears to be singing. See more »

Goofs

Freddie had brown eyes while Rami Malek has green eyes. Mercury (5'9-1/2") was also quite a bit taller than Malek (5'9"). Despite these differences and some other criticism of the film, Malek's performance has generally been acclaimed. See more »

One of my favorites in 75 years
12 November 2018 | by nanci-55759See all my reviews

I'm a 75 yr old Gramma that saw this movie with her son and grandson. We all Loved it! I "heard" Queen music as I worked and raised my 4 children, but never really knew the band it came from. My children Lived with Queen music, and totally identified with them, especially in their band performances. My grandson heard Queen because his father played it all the time. We saw this movie as a family and the movie was about family, friends, and loyalty. The typical band movie is about rising-to-fame, falling-from-fame. This movie is about hanging together as family, as loyal friends ..something we Really need more of today!! The 2 :15 time frame flies by and you're left wanting more...more... more... Rami Malek is awesome as Freddie! He, his 3 co-stars, last director, music director, and entire crew deserve nominations! See this in a theatre that has great sound where you can appreciate the depth of the music! One of my most favorite movies in 75 years!
