"Falling Darkness," part of the third Inspector Lewis series, is one of the more complicated stories. Dr. Laura Hobson is on her way to meet a college friend but is sidetracked in her job as coroner to go to the site of a murder. When she discovers the victim is the person she was to meet, she faints. But it's not over yet. When she is next called to a murder scene, it turns out to be at the house where she, the victim, and several other friends lived together during their college days.
When I say you have to pay attention during this one, I'm not kidding. Though I figured out a perpetrator right away, putting the motive together and sorting out the people was another matter.
My sister lived in England and can watch these without closed captioning - I find closed captioning imperative. Actors are not body-miked, and noise is not filtered out as it is on American television. It makes for a more realistic setting but it's hell on ears that can't follow all those accents.
Excellent mystery.
