Storyline

The 78-minute documentary both questions and examines the many unspoken myths of a woman's core sexuality -- her vulva. These deep-seated beliefs directly affect female sexual self-esteem. Photographer Nick Karras has composed intimate images with an unusual sensitivity. The documentary follows his personal journey in producing a book of artful photographs. The movie records the reactions of sex educators, women's health professionals, art critics, female activists, and men/women-in-the-street as they confront the physical mystery of womanhood. It also exposes the recent cosmetic surgical procedure called labia-plasty as a fraudulent redefinition of female beauty. Written by Anonymous

User Reviews

Captivating and important, despite an amateur feel.
12 August 2014 | by SamJ_3000See all my reviews

First, the visual and audio quality of the documentary (on Netflix at least) makes you think it has been taken from an old VHS tape from the 80s. The edit isn't good, and some of the camera shots aren't much professional. ... but really, it doesn't matters.

The subject of the documentary is quite captivating, and the reflections it brings on how women are at ease with their body really is eye opening. The reactions women have when they get to see the pictures of the book are totally pertinent and important, and it makes us think that we are not that much in an open society as we think we are.

Recommended for open-minded people, of for anybody curious to learn more about themselves or women.
