Bill Skarsgård (It) takes over the iconic role of Eric Draven in Lionsgate’s new reboot of The Crow, and the first images from the film have been released ahead of an official trailer.
The Crow reboot will release in theaters on June 7, 2024, and Vanity Fair has shared three first-look images this morning that reveal Bill Skarsgård’s tattooed take on Eric Draven.
Director Rupert Sanders explains to Vanity Fair, “I think the beauty of Bill is that he has a disturbing beauty, and as he transforms through his loss he becomes this thing that even he can’t control. It’s that famous line: ‘Whoever fights monsters must be careful that they don’t become one.’ That look was me in the ’90s when we were squat-raving in London, [mixed with some modern influences] like Post Malone and Lil Peep. I hope people who are 19 today look at him and go, ‘That guy is us.

The New Sherlock Holmes In Sherlock & Daughter Series (Picture Credit: Facebook)
Many people worldwide are waiting for an update on Sherlock Season 5. The British mystery crime series stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the lead roles. The last season was premiered in 2017. Many have come to acceptance that there won’t be a fifth season. Well, chances are that’s true. But The CW has announced a spin-off series titled Sherlock & Daughter, which might excite the fans of the fictional detective.
As reported by Deadline, the series will have Sherlock, a young girl named Amelia, as his daughter and even Moriarty. So it’s not going to be a melodramatic father-daughter series. The premise will be about a young American girl, Amelia, arriving in London after her mother’s murder. She learns that her father is a famous detective. The father-daughter duo will solve not only her mother’s...

Australia-based indie sales firm Odin’s Eye Animation has picked up international rights to adult-skewing animation film “The Weird Kidz.”
The film, which has a 1980s vibe and sense of humor, debuted last year in festivals and Odin’s Eye will be using Berlin’s European Film Market to launch an expanded version.
A weekend camping trip becomes a disarming and unexpected rite of passage for three adventurous boys and one big brother looking to score with his girlfriend. All hell breaks loose when the campers fall into a nest of conspiring townsfolk and a secret society practicing ritual sacrifice to a terrifying creature from the crypt.
The film is written, directed and animated by the multi-hyphenate Zach Passero, whose has editing credits on a trio of Lucky McKee films, including the acclaimed “The Woman.” Production is by Charles Horak (“First Date”) and McKee.
Passero single-handily animated the entire film while working with his wife Hannah,...

Britney Spears’ bombshell memoir The Woman in Me arrived in October with damning revelations about everything from her 13-year conservatorship to her complicated relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Though incomplete in some senses, the 275-page book was the most comprehensive overlook into the moments that she had previously kept locked away. Readers clamored for those details when it arrived, but Spears has been grappling with its ramifications ever since.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book,” the singer wrote on Instagram on Sunday evening.

Dreams require sacrifice… and so do they.
August has been a significant month for Screambox, which celebrated the anniversary of Tobe Hooper’s original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, took a look back at the classic 1985 Clue in Who Done It: The Clue Documentary, got creature feature crazy with the sci-fi horror Subject, and had a blast with the Ghostbusters-inspired sci-fi horror comedy The Ghastly Brothers.
In addition to the extremely controversial The Woman hitting the streaming service last week, Screambox has now added the extremely popular cult horror Starry Eyes, the directorial debut of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (Pet Sematary), courtesy of MPI and Dark Sky Films.

There are quite a few movies with two things that I wouldn’t put together normally that get thrust into each other for our entertainment. Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus, Ninjas vs Zombies, Cowboys vs Vampires (yes these are all actual movies that I have seen) and now the apocalypse and clowns.
Like many movies with crazy-sounding themes, the title alone does get your attention but the story itself is actually as simple as it could be. An electrical and technological blackout has hit Ireland and now anarchy and chaos have hit the country. A group of mostly failed clowns have ended up together travelling the country and trying to survive. But, it might give them one last shot at the big time.

Three horror classics have just landed on the Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox streaming service, which already is celebrating a massive August that kicked off with the Ghostbusters-inspired Ghastly Brothers.
Richard Attenborough’s Magic (1978) starring Anthony Hopkins and a psychotic ventriloquist dummy is the first of three movies added to Screambox, courtesy of Shout! Factory.
“Written by William Goldman, adapted from the novel he also wrote, Magic revolves around a ventriloquist seeking to renew a relationship with his former high school sweetheart,” Meagan Navarro previously wrote about the classic. “The only problem is that his dummy is the jealous type. That ventriloquist, Corky, is played by Anthony Hopkins. Unlike most killer doll horror movies, Magic favors the psychological, and Hopkins brings intensity to this twisted love story.”
She notes that this movie served as an inspiration for Don Mancini’s original Child’s Play screenplay and is currently celebrating its 45th anniversary!

Released last fall, Lucky McKee’s “chamber thriller” Old Man had nothing to do with the Don’t Breathe films, despite starring Stephen Lang – who played the “Blind Man” in both Don’t Breathe and Don’t Breathe 2. But that didn’t stop the movie’s Russian distributor from marketing it as a prequel to those films! During an interview with Jb Hi-Fi, McKee laughed about the fact that his movie is part of the Don’t Breathe franchise, as far as Russia is concerned.
McKee said, “In Russia, they released it as Don’t Breathe: The Beginning. Kind of like the Italians used to do back in the day, with movies like Zombi 2.“
Sure enough, if you search the title Don’t Breathe: The Beginning, you’ll find confirmation that Old Man is a Don’t Breathe prequel in Russia.

In December 2022, the critically acclaimed, mega-successful stage musical based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book Matilda came to cinemas translated into a punchy, inventive feature film. Written by playwright and screenwriter Dennis Kelly with songs and lyrics by comedian and writer Tim Minchin (Upright), the musical – like the book – is a terrific blend of poignancy and rebellious satire.
Famously adapted for a 1996 American feature film starring writer Mara Wilson in the title role, Matilda is the story of an extraordinary young girl born into a neglectful family who are unable to see, or appreciate her uniqueness. Matilda Wormwood isn’t just an academic genius, and when she goes up against the cruel, child-hating headmistress Miss Trunchbull, she uses her powers to right a generational wrong.
The new film retains the original musical’s anarchic heart, chiefly by retaining its director Matthew Warchus, who pulled the whole thing together...

Cannibalism has emerged as the genre du jour in horror. With the success of last year’s Fresh and Bones and All as well as the second season of Yellowjackets finally digging into the human flesh, everyone seems to be exploring this taboo topic. From nightmare survival scenarios to narcissistic serial killers, these films follow humans or humanoid monsters who consume human flesh in one way or another. Some butcher and cook the meat, while others eat it from the bone, but all cannibal films offer a window into a world of depravity and a fascinating blend of horror and revulsion. We not only fear being eaten ourselves, but we often find ourselves imagining what the meat would taste like should we dare (or be forced) to take a bite.
Films about cannibals may seem like a rare delicacy, but a closer look reveals that the pickens are not so slim.

As we have mentioned before in our review of films from the country, Mongolian cinema has been taking gradual steps towards a very interesting path, away from the exotification of the country, which usually revolves around stories taking place in green fields, and instead dealing with contemporary themes, which, most of the time, take place in the urban centre. This effort, which is mostly driven from two companies, Mongolfilms Distribution and The Filmbridge has resulted in a number of very intriguing productions, which also, finally, move also towards genre paths, apart from arthouse ones. In this article, we present ten of the most noteworthy, once more with a focus on diversity, in reverse chronological order.
1. The Only Reason (2022) by Batzaya Gandush

The second season of Bel-Air, the dramatic reimagining of the hit ‘90s sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is in full swing, and so is the fashion.
Every Thursday, the cast is dressed in fashion-forward looks, starting in episode one with Jabari Banks’ Will wearing a purple-and-red suit from Grayscale, the luxury Los Angeles-based fashion house worn by stars including Nope’s Daniel Kaluuya, The Woman King’s Viola Davis and NBA player Kyle “Kuz” Kuzma.
Like the original, the Bel-Air characters use their fashion as a form of self-expression. Will Smith is the athlete from Philly who likes to dress in urban wear as a nod to where he’s from. Hilary Banks is the classy and polished girl boss of the family, and Carlton Banks is the outwardly prim and proper student, who wears only pants that stop above his ankle. In this 21st century version of the show,...

Go figure: The ugliest Oscars ceremony ever was followed a year later by perhaps the warmest celebration ever.
The 95th edition — which was held Sunday night, at a perilous moment for the motion picture industry and the Academy, the latter now under the new management team of CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang — was dominated by Everything Everywhere All at Once, a film that certainly isn’t for everyone, but apparently is for enough of the 10,000 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to prevail over formidable competition on the preferential (read: weighted/ranked-choice) ballot that the organization uses to determine its best picture.
This film from the warped minds of the Daniels — as in, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, colorful characters who were previously best known for “the farting corpse movie,” 2016’s Swiss Army Man — was made by a diverse and lovable company of artists...

Netflix recently put The Woman King on its streaming service after a successful theatrical run, which recently culminated in a number of film awards nominations. For many Netflix viewers, this will be the first time they’ve ever interacted in any way with Western African history. While some experts on the topic have argued that the film oversimplifies historical events, it is important that the popularity of The Woman King allows future films about African history to be made by native filmmakers and those of the wider African diaspora.

Performers celebrated their own on Sunday evening as awards season rolled around to the Screen Actors Guild. And it was a very good night for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which made SAG history by scooping all four awards for which it was nominated, including ensemble.
Everything Everywhere took home the ensemble award, plus trophies for stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis, which certainly doesn't hurt their Oscar chances (though Quan is clearly the favourite in the Supporting Actor race at this point).
It was a strong night for A24 as a studio, taking home the majority of the film awards, including another win for Brendan Fraser in The Whale. The Banshees Of Inisherin, meanwhile, was shut out despite earning a similar number of nods to Everything Everywhere.
On the TV side, it was bad news for Better Call Saul as Ozark's Jason Bateman and The White Lotus won again.

Michelle Yeoh took home the award for best female actor in a leading role for Everything Everywhere All at Once at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night, making her the first woman of Asian descent to win the individual acting honor.
“I think if I speak, my heart will explode,” she said as she took the stage after being introduced by Jeff Bridges. “SAG-AFTRA, to get this from you, who understands what it is to get here. Every one of you knows the journey, the roller-coaster ride, the ups and downs. But most importantly, we never give up. I thank you.”
“I thank you for your love, for your support, because I know I am up against titans,” she continued, trying to hold back tears. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is not just for me, this is for every single girl that looks like me.”

No nominees of colour won a Bafta in the main awards this year – just three years on from the #BaftasSoWhite backlash that prompted an organisational overhaul. But is there more than meets the eye to Sunday’s whitewash?
Like its fellow awards-giving organisation Ampas (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts has expended considerable energy in recent years in correcting perceived imbalances in the diversity of its nominations and award winners. Hence the consternation Bafta must privately be feeling that no people of colour were voted as winners of its top prizes at the 2023 edition, where German war film All Quiet on the Western Front emerged as the most rewarded, with seven Baftas, including best film and best director.

What exactly is going on this awards season? With the Baftas crowning All Quiet on the Western Front as its Best Film winner, we’ve officially entered chaos mode. All bets are off. Anything could happen. The German-produced take on Erich Maria Remarque’s piercing, anti-war novel – in which innocent patriotism goes curdled and cold in the trenches of the First World War – first dropped on Netflix without much fanfare, back in October. The words “Bafta”, “Oscar”, and “winner” were nowhere to be seen.
Flash forward to Sunday night’s ceremony, and All Quiet on the Western Front has not only walked away with the top prize, but its cumulative seven wins mean it’s now beaten out Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso as the most highly decorated non-English language film in Bafta history. Let me be clear about why exactly this win has awards prognosticators everywhere tearing their hair out.

Elvis topped the feature competition at the 10th annual Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards (IATSE Local 706), winning a pair of awards for period make-up and period hair styling.
Accepting with the team, Shane Thomas said of the team’s challenge to creating Elvis Presley, “We wanted to represent and respect, but not impersonate.” He also saluted director Baz Luhrmann’s “unwavering commitment” to filmmaking.
Also on Saturday at The Beverly Hilton, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever collected the award for contemporary hair styling. Department head Camille Friend dedicated the award to the late Chadwick Boseman.
Angela Bassett – who is Oscar-nominated for her role as Queen Ramonda in Wakanda Forever – received the Guild’s Distinguished Artisan Award during the ceremony. Bassett called the Guild members the “unsung heroes of filmmaking” as she accepted the award. “For any show, there is a team who works long and hard to help us bring to life the character.

This article contains spoilers for "Poker Face" episode 5.
Rian Johnson's new Peacock series, "Poker Face," is a total blast with unique murder mysteries that wrap up before the end of each episode -- much like "Murder, She Wrote" or "Columbo," but with Natasha Lyonne working her own brand of mystery-solving magic. Each episode has a slightly different vibe to it, and while Johnson directed a couple of the episodes, he also brought in some talented folks to take on helming duties. Episode 5, "Time of the Monkey," finds our hero Charlie Cale (Lyonne) working at a nursing home while she's on the run from some seriously sinister criminals and the cops due to the events of the pilot, and it's a 1970s-flavored dark delight courtesy of horror director Lucky McKee.
The tone of "Poker Face" is pretty radically different from Johnson's other murder mystery fare; it's much funnier and lighter than "Brick,...

ReviewThis historical fiction is solace, upliftment, and testimony, all at once.OfficialFilmPosterBody 2:
The last word spoken in The Woman King is the name Breonna—a call back to the Black Lives Matter slogan ‘Say their Names’. In March 2020, Breonna Taylor was murdered by the police in her own home in Louisville, Kentucky. She was shot five times during a midnight raid in a case she had little to do with. Justice for Breonna and the many other African-American lives claimed by police brutality and white power remains elusive in America. It is these ideas of justice, memorialising, systemic violence from the past, its echoes in the present, and the particular trauma and resistance of Black women, that The Women King deals with. The historical fiction film is set in the early 1800s in a west African kingdom called Dahomey (modern-day Benin). Breonna’s name which echoes across the theatre...
