Storyline

Oscar Austiego is a 36 year old mentally challenged man who lives with his recluse father in their modest home. One day, armed with his trusty Polaroid camera, Oscar takes a trek to the park and happens upon a quirky, artistic 12 year old named Sophie. Like Oscar, Sophie is the frequent target of ridicule and condemnation. The two become fast friends (much to the chagrin of Sophie's parents) and find a common interest in art as well as reveling in each other's unique take on life. Over the next year, they forge a special bond that would become impervious to the disdain of the outside world. That is, until a bizarre twist of fate conspires to bring their new found utopia crashing down on them. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

'My friend, Oscar.' was originally conceived by Director Brian Kaz as a short film amd acting thesis for its co-star Blake Balu. Early in the writing phase it was decided to attempt a Feature Length version instead, even though production had to begin almost immediately due to Mr. Balu's thesis deadline. The script was written in just two weeks, with storyboards, scheduling, locations, prop design, etc all taking place during filming as it was needed. See more »
