Jimmy Fallon rocks the 62nd Emmy's!
Well, thank goodness for humor - Jimmy Fallon turned what is frequently a snooze fest of gratuitous back slapping, into a pretty fun and entertaining night. His humor is very fresh and young and at times very silly and self-deprecating.
Can you see an Oscars hosting gig in his future? I know I can. Whereas people like Leno and Letterman have their core following in late night, Jimmy is new enough to still be building his so a lot of people I know really had no idea what to expect from his Emmy's hosting. They were all pleasantly surprised.
A big favorite of every single person I spoke to about the Emmy's was the opening number - it was Glee-ful, it was tongue in cheek, and it was just plain fun. It's the kind of fun you get from his late night show, but you have to have Ti-vo, a DVR or be a night owl like me to see it - he's on after the so-so Leno show.
Ten out of ten for Jimmy for making the Emmy's way more watchable this year - and we loved the fact that you made Tom Selleck giggle by claiming he was your long lost Dad and giving him a huge hug - hilarious.
Now all we need is a new movie for Jimmy - it can be straight acting or comedy - he can do both!
