Ray is taken aback with the arrival of Lenore while he is teaching. She is furious; Lenore wants her cut from the money that Tanya got from Francis. Tanya decides she needs to get Charlie's advice about how to handle her situation. Unfortunately, she catches her pimp friend at a playground area where he has taken his two boys. She steps into a baseball field as Ray is behind her. She finally sits down and Ray points out the fact this was where the old Tiger Stadium stood for many years. Now it is empty because a newer place was built for wealthy patrons that will not even be able to sit in the open air.
Ronnie and Jessica go to the award giving ceremony honoring dermatology doctors. Ronnie has come up eighth from the top. A surprise comes in the way of the doctor Jess had consulted about her rash. Jessica is uncomfortable with the situation and decides to get out. Ronnie, accepting the award complains out loud that Jessica is killing him.
Ray goes into the teachers' room at the high school where almost everyone has received a termination letter. Mike, who walks in, sees Ray, and leaves the room as soon as he enters. He is an unhappy person who feels cheated by his best friend for having lost the woman he loved. Ray tries to reason, to no avail. Mike is really steaming.
Ray is seen in bed, when the phone rings. It is Jessica. She came directly from the award dinner and is standing at the end of the pier outside Ray's house. She asks him if he would join her for a swim in the lake. Ray complies and as the two come closer, they embrace and kiss.
Colette Burson, the creator of this amazing series, tries her hand in directing the episode. She is a natural who should exploit this angle. After all, the series owes a great deal to her. The chapter was written by Angela Robinson. This episode brings out a lot of the issues to an almost conclusion, something that no doubt will be dealt in next week's end of the season. As usual, the cast makes the whole thing possible. All the regulars are now extremely comfortable with the roles they play. The ensemble acting is one of the strengths of the program.
