Jeff Bridges Brings Guidance in First Trailer for Marc Webb’s ‘Only Living Boy in New York’

When you aren’t carrying the weight of a superhero tentpole franchise on your shoulders, it turns out you can get a whole lot more done. Following the Chris Evans-led Gifted in April, Marc Webb‘s second film of 2017 will be arriving just a few months after in August with The Only Living Boy in New York. Ahead of the release Amazon Studios have now unveiled the first trailer.

Scripted by Allan Loeb (who is on some sort of unfortunate streak with The Space Between Us, Collateral Beauty, So Undercover, Here Comes the Boom, Rock of Ages, and, well, the list goes on…), hopefully this one is an uptick for the writer, even if the trailer sells a fairly chintzy feel-good dramedy — one that seems to be skipping a festival debut. Starring Kate Beckinsale, Pierce Brosnan, Kiersey Clemons, Cynthia Nixon, Callum Turner, and Jeff Bridges, check out the trailer below.

Watch the Trailer For True Memoirs Of An International Assassin

  • TheMovieBit
With Adam Sandler enjoying great success with his string of Netflix exclusive movies (god only knows how though), it was only a matter of time till so good buddy Kevin James got in on the action, and now we have the first trailer for True Memoirs of an International Assassin, an action comedy with a plot so old school i could have swore I saw this in the 80’s. James plays a mild manner author who is mistaken for a master assassin when his fictional novel about a globe trotting killer-for-hire is published as a true story. When the book is huge success, he is kidnapped and forced into a real life assassination plot. I really try to like Kevin James, and sometime he makes it incredibly easy with the likes of King of Queens and Here Comes the Boom. But other times, he stars in Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

Coming Distractions: Kevin James blows up real good in this trailer for True Memoirs Of An International Assassin

Remember Here Comes The Boom, the movie that inexplicably starred Kevin James as an aspiring Mma fighter? As poorly as that went, his career as a hitman in True Memoirs Of An International Assassin seems like it’s going to go even worse—although, to True Memoirs’ credit, Kevin James getting involved in something that is significantly beyond is abilities is sort of the point this time. As seen in this trailer, the movie stars James as a writer whose spy thriller gets released as non-fiction to help boost sales, leading people to believe that he’s actually a retired assassin. As anyone who has seen Tropic Thunder (or any other movie ever) can probably guess, that eventually leads to him getting kidnapped and swept up in an actual international assassin plot, complete with foreign bad guys, a mysterious spy woman, and Rob Riggle as an amped-up CIA bro.

Watch: Kevin James Mistaken For a Hitman in Netflix's True Memoirs Of An International Assassin

Netflix has released the first trailer for True Memoirs of an International Assassin, the latest film starring Kevin James. Adam Sandler got a globe-spanning mistaken-identity movie on the streaming service earlier this year, so it's only fair if James gets one too.

James plays Sam Larson, a mild-mannered would-be author who gets mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. When the book is a huge success, he is suddenly kidnapped, taken out of the country, and forced into an assassination plot.

I rolled my eyes a lot during this trailer, but I will admit that this looks way better than Paul Blart, Zookeeper, Here Comes the Boom, or a lot of the other crap that James has been pumping out over the past few years. What do you think? Will you be checking this out? True Memoirs of an

Kevin Can Wait Season 1 Review

One episode was provided prior to broadcast.

Kevin James is a simple entertainer. His blue collar-friendly brand is designed to appeal to undemanding middle-aged schlubs, or at the very least, easy-to-please hard-working people who just want to kick their feet back, gulp down a couple beers and enjoy themselves for a few hours. The kind of people who don’t expect more than the familiar pleasures they’ve been given before. And there’s nothing particularly wrong with that either. James’ style might be boring and repetitive to some of us (well, maybe most of us), but he’s a smart businessman. He knows what his fans expect from him, and he tries to meet their modest demands. That logic drives Kevin Can Wait, James’ return to CBS and broadcast television.

It’s been nine years since James stepped away from King of Queens, pursing a career on the big

Will Smith's Collateral Beauty Is Building An Incredible Cast

Will Smith may have missed out on an Oscar nomination for Concussion, but his next project, Collateral Beauty, is shaping up to be quite a feast for the eyes, since it.s going to be filled with famous faces.  According to The Wrap, the film will be helmed by director David Frankel. He directed films like Marley and Me, The Devil Wears Prada and Hope Springs, and has helmed episodes of Entourage and Sex and the City. Allan Loeb, writer of Rock of Ages and Here Comes the Boom, among others, is crafting the screenplay. Will Smith takes on the lead role in Collateral Beauty, as an advertising executive who undergoes a personal tragedy. His colleagues come up with a plan to make him feel better, and it works, but not in the way they expected. Smith.s most recent films are Concussion and last summer.s underrated Focus. Also

Will Smith, Not Johnny Depp, Replaces Hugh Jackman in 'Collateral Beauty'

Recent tabloids suggest things are not going swimmingly for Will Smith at home, so constant work may benefit the former Fresh Prince's good spirits. He's got Concussion coming this Christmas, Suicide Squad still in production and now, in just a matter of months, he's got the lead role in Collateral Beauty, the highly buzzed-about Me & Earl & the Dying Girl follow-up for director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, to keep his mind preoccupied at the moment. Smith takes the role from fellow superhero star Hugh Jackman, who departed last month from the role he received in June due to his final Wolverine commitments in James Mangold's 2017 sequel. Rumors persisted on Johnny Depp taking the turn, as part of his dramatic comeback expected to kickstart with this fall's Black Mass and, while the filmmakers did court the actor at some point in time, he either turned it down or Smith edged him out. Will Smith To Replace Hugh Jackman In 'Collateral Beauty' With Rooney Mara

Whatever is in the script for "Collateral Beauty" penned by Allan Loeb ("The Dilemma," "Just Go With It," "Rock Of Ages," and "Here Comes The Boom"), it has attracted some big attention. Hugh Jackman was attached for a spell before he dropped out when his scheduling couldn't work, and then Johnny Depp was taking a peek for a moment. Now a big name has finally signed up to replace Jackman and star opposite Rooney Mara in the film. The usually quite picky Will Smith is putting his name down for the flick, reports Deadline. "Me And Earl And The Dying Girl" director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will helm the tale that follows a New York City ad executive who slips into depression following a tragedy and embarks on an unconventional method to get out of his funk. Will Smith Replaces Hugh Jackman in 'Collateral Beauty'

Will Smith Replaces Hugh Jackman in 'Collateral Beauty'
Will Smith has signed on to replace Hugh Jackman in the new drama Collateral Beauty for Anonymous Content, PalmStar and Likely Story. Hugh Jackman backed out of the project last month, with Deadline reporting at the time that the filmmakers were going after Johnny Depp to replace him. That isn't happening anymore, with Will Smith now on board to star.

The story centers on a New York advertising executive who suffers a terrible personal tragedy that sends him into a funk. When his co-workers come up with an unorthodox plan to get him out of this depressive state, it works in ways they couldn't have possibly fathomed. Rooney Mara and Jason Segel are also attached to star, although no details were revealed regarding their roles.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, who directed this summer's indie hit Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, is directing from a screenplay by Allan Loeb (Here Comes the Boom

Will Smith Takes Over Collateral Beauty

Will Smith Takes Over Collateral Beauty
As recently reported, there's been a change at the top of Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's Collateral Beauty, with Hugh Jackman forced to drop out due to a schedule clash with Wolverine 3. There was some talk of Johnny Depp being sought to step in, but apparently that went nowhere, because the official word this morning is that Will Smith has picked up the baton. He'll co-star with Rooney Mara.Allan Loeb wrote the screenplay, which revolves around a New York advertising agency, and a man - presumably now Smith - struggling with depression after a tragedy that turns his world upside down.Loeb has recently been churning out comedies like Here Comes The BoomJust Go With It and The Dilemma, but his earlier work on dramas like Things We Lost In The Fire and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is probably a more relevant touchstone here...Gomez-Rejon, meanwhile, got his start

Goodbye Hugh Jackman, Hello Johnny Depp (Maybe) For 'Collateral Beauty'

Although Hugh Jackman will soon say goodbye to Wolverine with X-Men: Apocalypse and James Mangold's upcoming Wolverine sequel, in the process of putting away the claws the actor has to give away some other roles in the meantime. That would include the lead role in Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's much talked-about Me & Earl & the Dying Girl follow-up Collateral Beauty, also starring Rooney Mara. It was only last month when the Aussie actor signed onto the project, but time commitments apparently won't let Jackman play the role when production begins this fall. Producers don't seem too discouraged, though, for they've taken their efforts towards bagging another big-name star: Johnny Depp. Even if the Mortdecai's star seems to be fading these days, Depp does have the buzzed Black Mass coming up, in addition to another Pirates of the Caribbean sequel set for release in two years time. So don't rule out a comeback,

Hugh Jackman Out, Johnny Depp Possibly In For 'Collateral Beauty' With Rooney Mara

Maybe this is the reason why Hugh Jackman is finally ready to lose Wolverine's mutton chops —playing the marquee X-Man gets in the way of other projects. The actor's about to start shooting "The Wolverine 3" soon, which has seen him removed from starring in the developing "Collateral Beauty" co-starring Rooney Mara and set to be helmed by "Me And Earl And The Dying Girl" director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. But another big name might step in. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 passes $100 million worldwide

Despite being mauled by critics the world over, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 amassed another $330,000 this weekend to cross the $100 million mark worldwide.

This achievement admits Sony’s clumsy comedy to an elite group of only twenty films to attain $100 million worldwide this year. The picture is now only trailing Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie, sitting in 19th place for the year, by $600,000, so could perceivably continue its remarkable rise in the box office charts. Also, this weekend’s box office smash, Spy, made $86.5 million upon its worldwide opening, only $15 million less than Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2‘s total gross, and will surely crack the top 20 in the next few days.

Cracking $100 million is a huge achievement, and quite a shock, for a film openly branded “a gobsmackingly witless excuse for entertainment.”

Kevin James Will Play An Assassin In His Next Movie, Which Actually Sounds Great

Kevin James.s latest comedy, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, may not be the runaway success of the previous film, but it.s found decent box office success, raking in $76 million worldwide so far. We.re used to seeing him as a schluby, bumbling everyman, but for his next role, James is up to something very different, playing a real life assassin, or at least someone mistaken for one. Deadline reports that the star of such films as Here Comes the Boom and Grown Ups is set to headline The True Memoirs of an International Assassin. Jeff Wadlow, who helmed the superhero sequel Kick-Ass 2, will direct. The script comes from Jeff Morris, and landed on a recent edition of the Black List, an annual collection of the best, as-yet-unproduced scripts floating around Hollywood. That right there is enough to indicate that this movie, if handled in the right way,

Kevin James Will Topline The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin

After stinking up the multiplex with Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 last month, is Kevin James finally searching for critical redemption? Nah, don’t think so. The actor has signed on to star in comedy The True Memoirs of an International Assassin, with Blart producer Todd Garner returning in the same capacity and Jeff Sussman (Zookeeper) exec-producing.

The pic, to be directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, the upcoming Masters of the Universe) from a Black List script by Jeff Morris, will center on a bumbling, mild-mannered accountant who tries his hand at novel-writing, only for his book about an international assassin to top the charts – as a non-fiction memoir. Bombarded by publicity and unsure of how to deal with a world that now believes him to be a stone-cold killer, he vacations in Belize. Predictably, he ends up snared in an actual assassination plot in the Central American country

Box Office Report: Furious 7 Zooms Past Paul Blart

Vin Diesel and company continued their dominance over the North American box office, fending off two new releases that debuted respectfully. In its third lap, Furious 7 topped the box office with an estimated $29.1 million, a drop of 51% from last weekend. That is a third weekend now that’s almost as good as American Sniper ($30.7 million), a film that will finish just shy of the $350 million mark.

Furious 7 is very close to surpassing the three-century mark in North America, with $294.4 million so far, but with hefty drops the last two weekends and Avengers: Age of Ultron set to assemble massive audiences in 12 days, the film will need more gas in its tank to reach the $350 million mark.

Regardless, even if the sixth sequel doesn’t hit a threshold in North America that no film from 2014 was able to, its worldwide grosses already have. A $1.15 billion take worldwide means that after just 17 days of release,
