Oscar Nominee Cast as Leading Resident of Defiance

We’ve been keeping you apprised of the casting news for upcoming Syfy TV series Defiance, and we now happily add Graham Greene (Northern Exposure, The Green Mile, Wolf Lake) to the list. I’ve loved him since he was a resident of Cicely, but I’m pretty sure that Defiance will be absolutely nothing like that quirky little town in Alaska. Here’s Syfy‘s press release:

New York – March 27, 2012 – Syfy has announced that Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves) will join the cast of its upcoming drama series Defiance. Greene will portray Rafe McCawley, a self-made success who owns and operates the largest mine in the territory. It’s a very late Monday update for The Dailies, a regular feed of the little stories that didn’t quite make it into an individual article on the site, but news worthy all the same.

We have been sent some really cool digital postcards for In Time, the futuristic action-thriller that stars Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. This one opens on 1st November.

We have a sexy new poster and the new trailer for Sleeping Beauty from director Julia Leigh. The film stars Emily Browning and Rachael Blake and arrives in UK cinemas on October 14th.

The U.S based Sales Agent and Production Co. company comes to Cannes with items for sale and surprisingly enough, they've got a Main Comp entry in Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive. We've got big eyes for a title Sierra/Affinity is repping in Oren Moverman's Rampart which I predict great things for, and Matt Piedmont directorial debut film which might confirm the genius I found in his Sundance winning short films.
