There is an actual real-life project of a Titanic II. Australian tycoon Clive Palmer announced in April 2012 (on Titanic's centenary) his plans to construct a modern-day replica of the Titanic to sail the same route of the original vessel (not the reverse one as in this movie). The original launch date was planned to 2016, then delayed to 2018. As of 2016, no construction has started and there are rumors the project was abandoned. See more
