Starts slow, then gut punches you!

Angel Beats! Was a series that I started watching sometime in junior high, and came back to by force of nostalgia. I didn't remember a lot of what the show was about, or watching it all the way through. Go figure-- I hadn't even gotten to the real meat of the show. The first five or so episodes left me skeptical if I liked the characters or cared about the setting, but the stakes shoot up quickly after this point. Soon the ridiculous nature of the cast feels less forced, and you get attached. This is a beautifully animated show, with heavy and grisly backstories for almost all the characters. The ending left me a wreck, and I would highly recommend this show to anyone seeking out an emotionally-charged show.
