- There's a stranger in my house...
In Hawaii, Leilani and her friend Kala at Leilani's house returning from a protest, and Leilani warns that Sanford Development will do everything they can to stop them. More and more people are taking Sanford's offer and leaving town. Leilani sees a young girl, Alana, standing across the street and remembers the pasta. Owen, with Sanford, pulls up and tells them that Sanford is sweetening the deal. Kala tells them that she's not taking their offer and leaves. Owen tells Leilani that she can't stop them, and she has until midnight to sign the deal, for her family's sake.
Leilani goes inside and find her husband Koa and daughter Maile at the dining table. Maile goes to her room without talking to her mother, and Leilani shows Koa Sanford's new offer. He reminds Leilani of Maile's time capsule school event, and point out that it's the fourth time in two months that she's chosen a protect over one of Maile's events. Leilani says that she's trying to make the world for Maile, and Koa says that he knows but right now she needs to make things better with Maile.
Leilani goes into Maile's room and apologizes for not being there for her time capsule event. The girl says that they can't dig up the capsule because the earth is protecting it, and the earth is protecting her and Koa but not Leilani. Maile says that Koa was unhappy worried about Leilani, and Leilani says that the next day they'll ask the island to protect her. She shows Maile her necklace, and talks about how her grandmother gave it to her. Leilani explains that she goes to the protests to protect the land.
Leilani finds Koa and tells her that everything is okay with Maile, and shares a beer with him. They talk about how he's worried about her, and he says that Leilani lost her job with Sanford, and he's been blacklisted from every museum in the area. Koa says that they have to take the deal, and Leilani refuses. Leilani points out that her parents left the island because they were priced out of their own home, and Koa points out that their savings are gone and she's taking her family down with her war against Sanford. Koa says that he knows it is hard, but they'll survive to fight another day and it won't happen until Leilani puts her family first. Leilani wants to put it off until the next day, and Koa warns her that tomorrow might be too late.
That night, Leilani is trying to sleep in her bed. She hears the clock ticking, and Leilani goes to Maile's bedroom and finds a figure beneath the sheets. She pulls it away, and finds Alana there. Alana mouths words, and Leilani clutches at her ears in pain.
The next morning, Leilani wakes up from her nightmare and discovers that Koa is gone. She goes out to the kitchen and looks at the paper with Sanford's offer, and hears Maile calling to her. Leilani can't find Maile, and goes back to the kitchen and finds an empty bowl of cereal. She looks in the bathroom and sees Koa's silhouette on the shower curtain. She opens the curtain but there's no one there. She goes back to the kitchen, and discovers that the family photos have all disappeared. She turns and discovers that all of the kitchen mess has disappeared. She hears someone walking behind her, but when she turns, there's no one there. Leilani goes to Maile's room and finds everything there, and tries to call Koa. She can't call her husband, and discovers that her car is gone and isn't showing up on her GPS.
Maile calls to her mother, and Leilani runs in and finds another woman, Kendra, with Maile. Kendra woman demands to know what Leilani is doing in her house, and Leilani says that it's her house and her family built it. Kendra tells the girl, Sophia, to go to a neighbor's house. Leilani sees that the family photos show Kendra with Sophia Koa. She figures that Sanford is responsible, and angrily throws a vase at the wall as she demands to know where her family is. Kendra tells Leilani that she's a psychopath, and Leilani's family probably doesn't even exist.
Leilani runs to Maile's room and discovers that everything has changed. Her wedding ring drops to the floor, and Leilani discovers that her ring figure is gone. Kendra comes in and tries to hit Leilani with a baseball bat. Leilani knocks her down, rendering her unconscious, and runs out to where Sophia is outside on the sidewalk. As Leilani tries to reassure the girl, Sophia notices that another of Leilani's fingers has disappeared. Kendra comes out and says that the cops are on their way, and tells Leilani to stay away from her family.
Leilani goes to Kala's house and pounds on the door. She hears a noise and run around the side, and see Kala on crawling on the ground, her legs gone. Leilani runs over and hears Kala say that they should have taken the deal. When Leilani runs around the fence, she discovers that Kala is gone.
Looking around the empty yard, Leilani falls to her knees sobbing and remembers seeing Alana earlier, and realizes that she was yelling at Leilani to take the deal. Leilani remembers her family, and Koa telling her that she has nothing left to lose. She takes out the Sanford offer and wonders why she didn't sign, and then goes back to her house and looks in the window. Kendra is there talking to Sophia, and Leilani finds a pencil and signs the deal, begging for it to work. She looks back in, and sees Kendra taking Sophia to her room.
Leilani knocks at the door, claiming to be the police. When Kendra opens the door, Leilani barges in and Kendra points out that Leilani's ear has disappeared. Leilani runs out and digs up Maile's time capsule, remembering what her daughter said about the earth keeping her safe. She begs on the spirits to bring back her family, giving them a second chance.
Kendra runs out of the house, preparing to hit Leilani with the bat. Leilani closes her eyes and prays, and when she opens them Kendra is gone and the house and yard are restored to what they were. Koa comes out and finds Leilani, who drops the time capsule when her arm fades away. She collapses her legs and then the rest of her body disappearing. Koa comes out and discovers that Leilani is gone, and goes back inside. He finds the deal on the floor with Leilani's signature on it. The signature disappeared, and Owen knocks at the door. He tells Koa that he should listen to what he has to say, for his family's sake.
