Silly but also one line really hits deep - not a great review cause it's mainly 1 thought. also - I do love bones' humor and banter this whole episode!

    Hi bones booth!

This episode used to be so silly to me & of course it still is but towards the end of the episode when they catch the guy who is guilty when he says the line "what can I say, they all look the same".. that sentence struck me SO DEEPLY on one of the rewatches in the last few years. Like it stung it felt louder than any other time I watched this episode because this time it hit me how that and excuse we've heard time & time again when cops incorrectly arrest someone who "fits the description"... the way that sentence lands coming from a person of color.. it felt so real & raw. :(

    A very silly episode!

This show has never been shy about being racist, but this episode is very silly too! Bones has lost her mind and is just ridiculous. An awful episode!

    Arms of Steel

The whole thing is sort of weak. The Guido culture is so contrived that it never rings true. A body builder is murdered and it turns out he hangs out on the Jersey Shore to have fun, but he is actually driven to do better things. When everything is sorted out, his death proves to be a strategy, the motive really bizarre. What is pretty funny is that Brennan has been researching this subculture (a bunch of drunk kids), has learned their activities and their language. She actually interprets for Boot at one time. The subplots are again about babies being born (Angela) and Booth's new girlfriend moving in with him.

Unlikely that the FBI would make the family, girlfriend, roommate etc. come all the way from the Jersey shore to the J Edgar Hoover building for interviews/interrogations. Adding to that, the characters jump back and forth from locations in on the Jersey shore and DC way too quickly. Sometimes from scene to scene. One way, the Jersey shore is about a 4 hour drive from Washington DC.

Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: I've been studying their culture, language and customs. The Guido tribe is fascinating.

Special Agent Seeley Booth: Wait, is it all right to call them that?

Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: A tribe? Yes.

Special Agent Seeley Booth: No, no, no. I mean, I don't think it's all right to call them Guidos.

Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Oh, and the Guidos' dance rituals, tattoos, speech patterns, secret lexicons and ornate costumes are obvious markers.

Special Agent Seeley Booth: They're dumbass kids.

Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Yes. The avid focus on mating suggests a kind of protracted adolescence. Kids and dumbass refer to their... determined resistance to maturity.
