Showgirls: Exposed Director Marc Vorlander Branches Into Music Production With Former Kraftwerk Member Fernando Abrantes

Oh, this makes my brain hurt.

German director Marc Vorlander appeared seemingly out of nowhere back in March, generating huge headlines all around the web with what was then known as Showgirls 2: The Story Of Hope, a completely unauthorized sequel to Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls that Vorlander claimed had more than twenty million dollars in backing. The trailer looked like something produced for closer to twenty. Period. Just twenty. The film has since cycled through a few titles before settling on Showgirls: Exposed while Vorlander has maintained an active dialogue with his online doubters.

Well, here's something else truly unexpected from the man. Vorlander is being credited as producer and co-creator of tracks on Robot Emotions, an upcoming solo record by former member of Kraftwerk Fernando Abrantes. And once again Vorlander is slapping cinematographer Geoff Schaaf's name on this (complete with customized logo) as though that will mean something to fans of Kraftwerk.

Why is There a Meteor in the New 'Showgirls 2' Trailer?

Why is There a Meteor in the New 'Showgirls 2' Trailer?
For as long as I can recall, the world has been clamoring for a sequel to Paul Verhoeven's 1995 lap-dancing epic, Showgirls. It's been fifteen long years, but filmmaker Marc Vorlander is ready to make our dreams a reality with his newest project, Showgirls: Exposed, and we've got the four minute promo clip to prove it. Hopefully you have some eye rinse handy, because you're gonna need it after watching this thing.

Trying to catalogue all of the Boll-esque hilarity contained in this trailer would be impossible. Do you talk about the wonky title cards? What exactly is a "photoplay" and who thought "Disturbing. Provoking. Completely Shaved." was a good tagline? Do you focus on the cheesy song that plays over the whole thing or the hilariously awful CGI gunshot to the head effect? The options are endless.

My favorite moment is easily the shot of a meteor streaking across

Showgirls: Exposed Director Marc Vorlander Fires Back!

Yesterday Twitch posted the second trailer for Marc Vorlander's upcoming Showgirls: Exposed - his unofficial sequel to Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls that has been known variously as Showgirls 2, Showgirls: The Story of Hope and Showgirls: The Return. I was not particularly kind in my commentary on the trailer. And today Vorlander responded. I'm giving him a post of his own here to state his case, but head back to the comments thread on the original post for my response.

The difference between controversial art and crap is very easy: controversial art is hated, panned, discussed..., crap simply dissapears into nowhere immediately, exactly like Rena Riffels project, that is also based on Showgirls and can be used in this case perfectly to demonstrate the difference.

Dear Todd Brown, I'm looking forward the moment when you will review the film itself and you start writing on your computer another hate

Torture Porn: Can You Watch This Entire ‘Showgirls 2′ Trailer?

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that Twitch editor Todd Brown can watch just about anything. He and our own Rob Hunter are kindred spirits like that. There is no amount of gross exploitation, sexual deviance or brutality that he would not gladly sit through in order to get the story. It's what makes Twitch such a haven for the weird. So it's worth taking note when something comes along that is so out in left field that Brown writes a headline like this: My Eyes Can Stand No More Than Four Minutes Of Marc Vorlander's Showgirls: Exposed. That's something, indeed.

My Eyes Can Stand No More Than Four Minutes Of Marc Vorlander's Showgirls: Exposed.

Oh, good god. German director Marc Vorlander is back with a new, four minute promo clip from his Showgirls: Exposed - the unofficial Showgirls sequel previously known as Showgirls 2, Showgirls The Story of Hope and Showgirls The Return - and I'm thankful four minutes is all it is because I couldn't take much more.

Vorlander claims to have made this film with a twenty million dollar budget and if that is true then he is surely the worst director on the face of the planet or, perhaps, the most expensive director ever to be saddled with such cheap equipment. It's perplexing, surreal, not at all sexy despite being filled with nudity, strangely compelling and virtually unwatchable, all rolled in to one poorly edited package. The title cards are good for a giggle, though.

Not even remotely safe for workplace viewing, you can check it out below.
