Gönülçelen is inspired by Bernard Shaw's play 'Pygmalion' and its film adaptation 'My Fair Lady'. The series transports the scene to Istanbul where both Murat and Hasret, the two main characters, live. Murat is thirty years old and a successful musician and music educator who was born and raised in Istanbul. He comes from a long line of respected, rich and noble people. The female protagonist Hasret - on the other hand - was born and raised in one of Istanbul's most impoverished neighborhoods. She is a free spirited young woman with a 'foul' mouth. Hasret makes her living by selling flowers and occasionally singing in a band. Murat hears potential in her untrained voice and takes it upon himself to teach her the secrets of music by giving her a classical training. Written by Rena

A beautiful love story expressed through Music
10 September 2020 | by rica-30804See all my reviews

I watched this because I am a fan of Tuba Buyukustun. I really think that she is like Audrey Hepburn and she is like a princess :-)

I love how they always put some real life characteristics of her in her tv series like here her love and support for children as shown in the music foundation for children and I read somewhere that one of her wish is to be a singer ( IWC interview ).

I discovered Cancel Elcin who is so so so charming when he stares at her, nods his head and looks at her and smiles!!!!

I super love the main story of Gonulcelen and I wish they gave more airtime for Murat (Cancel Elcin ) and Hasret ( Tuba Buyukustun ). It started out so well with the main story then their romance, then I found the middle part too long when they were not together :-( I wish they could edit it ( and I am sure this will be a super hit ) and put it on netlfix with the correct english subtitles. - I am a fan from the Philippines :-) and I wish there were more Tuba Buyukustun shows in Netflix.
