Storyline

Nuclear Family begins the story of a young couple, John and Lynn, who are trying to survive in the woods after what appears to be a nuclear holocaust. They stay on the move with their 11-year-old daughter, Pauline... all the while searching for their missing 8-year-old son, Grant. Meanwhile, present society has disintegrated, and the family must stay one step ahead of the Berserkers: lawless, wild, brutal men who rape, pillage and destroy as a way of life. Shot as a pilot presentation for a TV series the story will take this family, and the others they meet along the way in their search for Grant and to avoid the Berserkers, to discoveries beyond the existing reality. Exciting and action packed
21 February 2015 | by See all my reviews

Didn't expect much of this, but after Ray Wise was introduced as a mad maniac leader I was completely sold. I've loved watching him since Twin Peaks. He is an actor which really can be both insane and nasty.

We follow a family of four, which sees an atomic bomb go off not very far off. As the rest of the people around, the go ion the run away from the dead zone. Shortly after they lose track of their young son during a traffic jam. From then on they run on their feet looking for the boy, but meet up a very bad and violent gang.

The film starts off with action just a few minutes in, and goes on. This is like an action filled version of "The Road", which was about the same there, that means the world after a nuclear war. It also reminds med of the sci-fi movie "Monster". Both references are to the benefit of "Nuvlear family".

What I don't like is the bleak colors, which is much cheaper done than in the other mention films, and the film music is very formulaic. But what can you expect from a low budget movie like this? I think they have got quite a lot out of it, thanks to good direction and what must be quite a good action driven script.

Wll worth a watch!
