Jump to: Spoilers (1)
At eight films, Eugene Levy has become the only actor to be in every film in the American Pie franchise.
Was originally intended to be the final chapter in the American Pie saga.
The only film that doesn't end with Finch having sex with Stifler's Mom.
[1:06:21]Chris Klein did his own dancing for Oz's "Celebrity Dance-Off" routine. Klein went to dance workshops with choreographers as well as adding his own moves to fit with his character. However, his routine was shortened in the final cut.
Of the main cast Eddie Kaye Thomas is the only one who is actually class of 1999.
[1:05:57]Though they both appear in all the theatrical films in the "American Pie" series, this marks the first time that Jennifer Coolidge and Eugene Levy share any scenes together. In real life, the two actors are frequent co-stars and friends.
This is the first movie in the American Pie franchise that you see Stifler and his mother communicating with each other directly. In the first movie he walks in on her and Finch, but only you only hear Finch's voice , every other time , Stifler either references her, or he's not around when she turns up.
The same song is playing at the reunion when Oz and Heather start dancing as was playing when they got together after the prom in the first movie.
A sex scene with Finch and Selena in the bathroom stall was filmed but cut. It can be seen in the Blu Ray / DVD's deleted scenes.
Michelle's (Alyson Hannigan) character is listed in the wish list as wanting to "improve on all talents flute-related", referencing her famous line from the original American Pie.
Stifler calls New Moon his favorite book in the Twilight series; Chris Weitz (producer of American Pie (1999), and executive producer of American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003) and American Reunion (2012)) directed the film version, The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009).
[1:32:39]Despite appearing on the movies official poster, Jessica (Natasha Lyonne) has just a cameo appearance during the reunion near the end of the movie.
The poster is a homage to the first movie's poster
This is the only film in the series where Stifler is seen eating at Dog Years with the rest of the gang.
The first main "American Pie" film not to be written by Adam Herz. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg wrote this script.
During the scene where Jim is talking to Kevin on the phone about the East Great Falls Class of 1999 Reunion. Kevin tells Jim to check the Facebook page and the number of "maybe attending" RSVP's is "69".
In the first spinoff film, American Pie presents: Band Camp, Chuck "The Shermanator" Sherman (Chris Owen) is revealed to have become a guidance counselor at East Great Falls High. Whether or not he still is by the events of this film is neither confirmed nor denied. Also in the same film, it is mentioned several times that Steve Stifler (Seann William Scott) became a filmmaker/producer in the adult film industry. But seeing as how he is a temp in this film, it's possible that he may have changed careers between the events of Band Camp and American Reunion.
This is the fifth time Eddie Kaye Thomas, 'John Cho' and Neil Patrick Harris (cameo appearance) star in a film together. Although Harris had an uncredited cameo in "American Pie 2", "American Reunion" is the fourth film written by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg to include the three actors after the "Harold and Kumar" films.
In all four films, the films begin with an embarrassing moment involving Jim, getting caught out in an sexual act by a family member. American Pie Jim's parents catch him masturbating with a tube sock, in American Pie 2 Jim's parents catch him having sex, in American Wedding Noah catches Jim being given fellatio by Michelle, and this film with Jim's son Evan catching Jim masturbating.
One person on the wish list says "I hope to be a vampire slayer". Alyson Hannigan was a co-star on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
When Stifler meets Finch's mom (Rebecca De Mornay) for the first time at the reunion, she says, "Are you ready for me, Stifler?" She famously used a similar line in Risky Business (1983) with Tom Cruise. Playing prostitute, Lana, she says, "Are you ready for me, Ralph?"
Michelle Flaherty (Alyson Hannigan) is the only main character without any reference to any kind of job occupation. It is not even revealed if she's an housewife.
  • Jim works for Katz Lewn & Soben Advertising. Although it is never mentioned what his actual job is.
  • Stifler is a temp at JB Global and is offered to become a professional party planner later in the movie.
  • Oz is a sportscaster.
  • Kevin is an architect.
  • Finch eventually reveals he's an assistant-manager for Staples.
  • Vicky has been working for the same company in New-York for the last 10 years, although the nature of her job is never mentioned. -
Heather works at a hospital but her job title is never specified.
  • Selena is a barmaid
These next two did not go to East Great Falls High; Their respective partners did.
  • Mia (Oz's girlfriend) is a model.
  • Ron (Heather's boyfriend) is a doctor.
In an amusing twist this movie ends with Stifler having sex with Finch's mom. In the previous 3 'primary' movies they all ended with Finch having sex with Stiflers mom.
Mena Suvari's fifth film to have the word "American" in the title, after American Pie (1999), American Beauty (1999), American Virgin (1999) and American Pie 2 (2001). The actress also had a guest-starring role on the 2011 television series entitled American Horror Story (2011).
Jay Harrington, who plays Dr Ron, also plays a character called Dr Ron in Desperate Housewives.
[1:06:52]Neil Patrick Harris makes a cameo in the film. This is the second time that Alyson Hannigan and him have worked on the same production aside from How I Met Your Mother (2005).
[1:02:48]This is the first and only film in the franchise where Stifler directly interacts with Jim's Dad Noah. They shared a couple of scenes together in American Wedding but did not interact with each other.

[19:34]Among the senior wishlists was a Todd Ellis whose wish was "I'm going to run the country after it falls apart January 1st". This is a reference to the Y2K scare that went on in the latter half of 1999. Many people believed that on January 1, 2000 the world's computers would all crash due to the last two digits of the year rolling over to 0, it was even all over the mainstream media. It never came true. Kevin Myers' (Thomas Ian Nicholas) wish was "Hopes he's still living it up with the amazing Vicky Latham (Tara Reid)". It's a good thing Kevin's wife didn't see that, because he is now married to someone else.

[12:36]Jim's mother is deceased (Jim says "it's been 3 years since she passed".... and he later tries to set up his dad on Jdate). But in American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009) Noah Levenstein states that he had been married for 35 years. So Mrs. Levenstein must have passed away in 2009, the year Book Of Love was released, so she must have passed only a few months after the events of that film. However, for whatever reason, she is listed in the credits.
