Goofs
After Slocombe drops the fake American accent, he speaks in an even faker English one. His accent ranges up and down the country, from a broad Yorkshire accent, to cockney (London) and back, with a bit of Cornish now and then. At times sounding so unrealistic it seems dubbed. There was no reason the Scottish actor couldn't have used his real accent, he's still British, nothing about the character would have had to change for it to be played by a Scot.

When the expensive British private teacher James Smithson is found brain-dead shot in the head in the mansion of the photographer Hooper Banks, the CBI team is assigned to investigate the case. The responsible for the security of the estate is the former Rigsby's colleague from the police Victor Bandino. Soon Patrick Jane finds a small red box on the floor and discloses that Smithson is using fake name and curriculum, and having affair with the mothers of his students. When the Scotland Yard detective Francis Slocombe is brought to the CBI after chasing the car of Lisbon and Patrick, they learn that the real name of the teacher is Oliver Stans, who stole Cleopatra's wedding ring and moved to California to sell to a dealer. With a great list of suspects with motive to kill Oliver, Patrick Jane plots a plan to catch the killer.

"The Red Box" is a great episode of "The Mentalist", with many twists in the plot. There are many suspects with motive to kill the private teacher and the plan plotted by Patrick Jane to catch the killer is funny. My vote is eight.
