Summaries

  • After spending many years as a doctor in London, not in posh Mayfair practice with rich patients but in a National Health Clinic, the past seems very distant to Dr. Adam Kelno. When his wife brings home a copy of Abe Cady's best-selling book "The Holocaust," he becomes enraged when she points out one page in the book which names him as war criminal who castrated Jews in a concentration camp without anesthetic at the Nazis behest. Feeling safe with his knighthood, Kelno insists on suing Cady for libel despite the pleas of his wife and son, who believe it's not with the stress and adverse publicity that will result. When his own lawyer finds that Cady, with the help of Lady Margret, has retained Tom Bannister, England's foremost barrister, he advises Kelno to settle out of court, but filled with righteous indignation and a lot of hubris, Sir Adam wants to press forward with the case... to his ultimate regret.

  • Ignoring the advice of his wife and son, Sir Adam Kelno insists on suing Abe Cady, who has accused him of castrating Jews in a best selling book, for libel.
