- Tongues are wagging in both lark Rise and Candleford after a young journalist, Daniel Parish, tells Emma Timmins that she may have inherited a small fortune from a recently deceased aunt. Daniel's newspaper has played a role in several such cases and all they ask in return is that they can publish a story about the beneficiaries. Emma has dreams of moving to Candleford and Robert agrees. Only when she changes her mind and decides she would much rather stay in Lark Rise, she hesitates to tell Robert. For his part, Robert didn't want to leave in the first place and only went along because Emma wanted to move. Laura and Daniel take quite a liking to one another.
