Mildly entertaining, but over the top.

Somebody do something about the Elijah Stone bad guy holding something over the lawyer. It's old and tired, not to mention unnecessary and boring.

The regular police stuff every week borders on ridiculous, but it's lively and fun,.

    What a thoroughly unpleasant episode!

A saidistic killer acting sadistically towards the main star for the majority of the episode. Fun! The other half of the show is a sadistic criminal acting sadistically towards the public defender character. The latter sadism wasn't as bad because who doesn't think a guy who defends scumbags for a living deserves a little nasty treatment? Regardless, unpleasant from start to finish! And so far away from the reality of a cop show (or actual reality period) as to beggar belief. Hollywood writers have become total loons.

    One of the best

I love how it had 3 different storylines going on, with key characters holding their own. Definitely had some edgy parts, and some comic relief as usual.

"Alright, Mic Me Up" - Where's the Sign-Up Sheet?

"Alright, mic me up. Let's get this over with." The music, the acting and the writing in that scene? Excellent.

    Best parts of the episode?

    • I said it before and I'll say it again - the writers of The Rookie reallyyyy know how to write a villain. Marcus was such a well-written character. I really liked him once we found out who he actually was.

    • Chen and Bradford's mini undercover operation. The whole sequence of going from wealthy criminal to wealthy criminal was fascinating. Of courseee, I loved the "mic me up" scene.

    • I love it anytime Elijah calls Wesley "counsellor". I don't know what it is about how he says it, but is gets me every time.

    Worst parts of the episode?

    • I don't know if it's because I saw another reviewing being suspicious of Bailey, but I was side-eyeing her this entire episode.

    Click bait

This Elijah character is absolutely unrealistic. Yes he did a favor for a lawyer. Now he OWNS him!? Really? And the reason the lawyer does what he wants is because he keeps threatening to kill his baby. So where does the "favor" fit in? He could've threatened him (or anyone else) and see what happens.

But "Wesley's" response is even more ridiculous. A trust fund baby with cop wife and enormous connections in both police and judicial system - Elijah and his entire operation would be in jail in 30 seconds. BUT NO! He will continue submitting to him until the writers find themselves a new toy. RIDICULOUS.

    • Quotes

John Nolan: It's over, Marcus! Give it up! We can still call you an ambulance!

Marcus Lindsey: You stabbed me! What the heck did you stab me with?

John Nolan: Scissors! Rusty ones, too! Now, you give your ass up! If you make this a fight to the death, I swear to God, *you'll be the one they carry out of here!*

      [Marcus chuckles maniacally]

      John Nolan: Oh, come on!

Marcus Lindsey: Ahh! Safety! Safety! Safety!

      [Marcus starts shooting at Nolan]
